NHRA license on the drag strip
06/18/12 8:13 PM

I posted this under the 1/4 mile forum and didn't get an answer so I thought I would try here. I was looking at Corbin seats and they said the ZX14 required a NHRA license to run on the drag strip does anyone know if this is true. I want to make a couple runs to see what I can do but not become a pro.

Yes you need an NHRA license to go to the strip because you bike can run under 10 seconds in the ΒΌ!

The other part of the equation is trap speed. to run over 120mph in the 1/4, you also are required to have a liscence. and a few other safety items. These bikes can almost run 120 in the 1/8th mile, so even if you et in the 12's, it should be over 120mph.

I replied to a post about it in one of the forums, and linked the nhra rules and quoted the pages that has the info.

The real question is, how strict will they be on tech inspection. and how likely you are to get booted. Some tracks on test and tune nights, dont stress about it too much. and even on a given day, a tech guy might pass or fail a car that had been there before. sometimes its just luck of the draw. You might just get away with a warning. Best is to play dumb at tech, or they could flag you right off the bat; and you've spent the money for nothing.
