Brocks map vs custom tune
04/30/12 6:51 AM

How good is brocks maps vs getting a custom tune? The guy and the shop said that the custom tube works 100% better and puts up better numbers. If there any truth to that or is he next trying to get my money?

Depends on how many pulls he does, how he mashes the numbers, how good he is with a dyno, how good he understands mapping.....

If all he does is 1 pull and then runs it into the Dynojet software and spits out a map, you might as well save your money and run Brocks, which I assume you got for free.

Besides, Brock Davidson developed that map over the course of a large number of dyno pulls and dragstrip passes. I ran his in my 2008 ZX14 from the time I put the CT-Duals on until I decided to try Jeffo's map. Brock's map worked great. And it was free, sort of.

JMHO, I have never had my bike on a dyno. If I had a custom tune, the opinions that would matter the most would be those of previous clients who used the shop I was considering. If the tuner doesn't have a reputation to stand on, I wouldn't be handing over my bike and $$$.

How much faster is a custom tuned 14 over a Brock mapped 14? ...or vice versa?

Get the Brock map and never look back..don't try to reinvent the mapping...Brock is on the cutting edge and you will not notice any difference in a custom local map to some guy who may or may not have the expertise to build a quality map....Brock just made mine and wow oh wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
