Plastic parts damaged after service
08/18/24 12:59 PM

Took my bike to flush all the fluids and after I got it back I noticed some burning marks on the front inner cowl covers (see pictures) like something hot or corrosive touched the plastic leaving dents. Can the brake or cloche fluid be the responsable for this?

Yes, brake fluid is really nasty stuff.

It will instantly strip paint, melt plastic on contact.

Looks like they got sloppy/lazy when working on your bike. Should of had
plenty of shop rags piled there just in case of a spill.

You know they saw it, just didn't say anything.

That is what i thought, I contacted the owner of the shop by email, he didn’t reply, then i called him and he said he needs time to look at the camera footage to see if his team did something wrong, it passed a week and he has not said a word. Thanks for confirming that.

What a douche.

His reply should of been, "We're so sorry we didn't catch that. Let me order up the
part and we'll give you a call when it gets here and you can stop by and we'll change it out"

Done, happy customer.

Check the camera, geezzz...... fu douche bag.

You are right on that, tomorrow I will email him for an update and I will include the link of this post so he can read your opinion if you don’t mind sharing it.

You should take the bike and go visit him personally and show him.

Ask to bring out whom ever worked on the bike and show them.

Flat out ask him to replace the cover.

This is not some obscure thing, they dripped brake fluid on the panel and messed it up.

Or.....

For the sake of sanity, just buy a new panel and move on. Case closed. Might just
be quicker, easier and less stress to just fix it and be done with it. Not a really expensive part.
Leave bad review, spread the word and take bike somewhere else next time service is needed.

Yeah that sucks. Considering most likely that was from brake fluid, it's one reason I really like using the vacuum bleeders, and I always keep a bucket of water with a wash mit around.

The shop should absolutely repair or replace those parts. I'd be OK with touch ups if they were so good you couldn't tell.
