Park Fire and Mad
07/29/24 3:46 PM

Hello everyone. I haven't posted in awhile. Right now I'm sitting in a trailer 58 miles from my house because of a large fire heading towards my house. It's currently at 358,000 acres. I managed to get my daughters trailer out along with 3 of my bikes. We're staying at a fantastic friends property until everything settles down, hopefully by mid week.
Ill keep you posted

Mad

P.S. its not all bad. My friends place is 4 miles from famous Hwy 36. I'm going for a scoot tomorrow morning

Hope all turns out OK. Had a fire roaring in my neighbor's backyard. I couldn't believe how fast a fire travels. I was just going to gab a box of papers and let the rest burn. Had a chopper come by, he was so close you could see him solute, lit the siren off and doused the fire out.

Weeks later we were out where the fire took out acres of land, but houses were saved around the chard landscape. Signs were up thanking the firemen where houses were saved.

You get this feeling you can't run for safety anyplace. Between fires, E-quakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, it's a battle every season.

Running Springs the old lady had a cabin that was taken out. House next door was not touched. It's all about luck from here on out.

As of this morning, no further movement north. We're going to stay here until they have better containment. I took a scoot out Hwy 36 West this morning. What an epic road. Obviously designed by a rider. Brand new pavement and no traffic meant I had the road to myself. The ZX14 continues to just be almost perfect for this. No knee dragging or anything fancy, just smooth, fast and comfortable. I was tempted to keep going all the way out to the coast. It was a great distraction

I wish the best for you and everyone out there mad. It sure must be a beautiful place but I'll deal with the snow and cold winters here in Upper Michigan. Nature's pretty serene around here for the most part.

UPDATE- We're back home although the fire is still burning. But its to our southeast and heading more easterly into Lassen Park. Still smoke in the air depending on the wind. Got everything set back up and getting ready to skirt the trailer again once I know we won't be evacuated again.

Thanks for the well wishes
