Worth a Look?
11/22/13 8:51 AM

It's beautiful..... of course it is, it's an MV, but this is one of the first offerings from the famed Italian company that seems to match the drop dead gorgeous looks with pure ability.

It sounds like from everything I've read, that they got this one right. If I were to get another scooter, the MV F3 800 and the new Ducati 899 Panigale are at the top of my very short list.

The 899 looks smokin hot too, I can hardly wait for the shootouts to begin.

Tech Specs
Engine: 1301cc, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, 75° V-twin
Bore & Stroke: 108 x 71mm
Power: 180bhp
Torque: 106ftlb.

Here is my shorter list, Professor. Hands down, the MV has the lines. The duc is a sad looking attempt once the cream rises to the top. But that is more a breed unto itself.

Here is one ugly looking bike that needs another color imo, but I'm rather riding the spec sheet instead. I need a sitter upper kind of ride. This more fits my style, rather than one of them there comfy Italian track bikes with less torque.

I absolutely love the MV's. I think they're amazing looking. If I ever get EXTRA money then I'll definately buy one. I want a zx-10 as well. MV is my third choice simply because of price. Otherwise it would be second.

+1 Gen 4 zx-10 is what I would get if I had the $$$$.

I think the MV for you Kruz (since you already have a gen 4 zx-10)....after collecting 5 others, you know appearance is at the top of the laundry list. The MV has the Pannigale beat on looks. Unless it's a dog in performance, the MV would be my choice.

Sorry Grn, I've been pretty much AWOL around here since the 22nd of July when my company got bought out. I've had no time to play on the internet in months, trying to keep my head down and keep my job with the new employer.

I don't know the prognosis yet but I close out the Dallas office at the end of December and begin officing from home. Never done this before, we'll see how it all works out.

My fortunate friend who has an MV in his collection says it's like having a supermodel in the closet.

Yep , I'd have to agree, nothing compares in the looks department, too bad the attention to detail doesn't carry over into the fueling, suspension, transmission quality and electronics departments.
Everything I've ever heard says they're hard edged, uncomfortable to ride and the fuel injection is typically a mess. They are the next best thing to having an Italian Supermodel at your disposal though.

One other thing, the styling never seems to get old, it's a classic and thus never changes.

What good is an Italian Supermodel if after you break her in she doesn't satisfy you? She'll just lay there and look good and be high maintenance. Who needs them when we have such a beautiful array of Japanese models? I'll stick with the Japanese girls. They're every bit as hot, they scream louder and best of all they won't bleed your wallet to stay in service.

Hey Bean mate, how're ya doing these days? Yea, I will most likely hang on to the current flock as long as I can, no sense in selling anything but it's been since '11 when I last bought something new, starting to get the itch again. Been casting an eye about for something different and the Italian bikes seem to fill that bill and they're the only category with new offerings. With exception of the 1199 Panigale , the liter bikes haven't changed much in the last few years, kind of stagnant IMHO.

Looks like an old sway horse. Here's the thing. The duc is a junk of trouble I hear, but the note is as sweet as a good running harley. You could hear them coming down the straight and into the shoot. I heard a few ktm's that are missing a few cc's and that 2014 resize won't help my ear. After hearing those engines, it's not even close to a sound I'm after. I thought it had something, so I'm glad I heard one, 'on song.' I'm impressed with the hp/tq, but still won't help selling me one. I know where to get lots of that.

There's nothing out there if I'm looking for a 'sound bite' like the ape has. The old Suzuki TL's had the bite. Harley for sure has the Bite. So bike #2 is all about bite or I don't Bite. Kawi has my coin she keeps the world's fastest up front. She too has to keep the top shelf: top model.

For example, you hear the bike hitting the rev limiter at the end of the vid, you know what kind of bike it is. I'm not saying this bike has the bite. It's just different.
