Different direction...
08/08/12 2:40 AM

I've decided to sell the 14. I'm not really riding it much, and wanting to start hitting up multiple other tracks. Gonna pay off some debt and become an even bigger track junkie! I'm hooked bad! I'm going to a Jason Pridmore STAR School at Hartland Park at the end of the month.

I have a guy coming to look at it Friday, if that falls through I'll be putting it up for sale here and on Craigslist.

I hear ya, the 14 is a big girl...and a bit of a handful if you've gotten used to riding a liter or Supersport. The 600 is all I need to have fun in the twisties.

I sure wish I had the nerve, or ability to do something like that. When I had my zzr600, I took it to the mountains and rode some roads around Boone. It was definately a blast, but I felt a little big on the bike. It was really nice keeping the bike in the higher rpms, and flipping it into the corners. Our mustang club goes to VIR raceway each year for "Toys for Tots". Over the last 3 years, I had no mustang and wanted to take my bike out. I always wimped out and took the Lightning instead. Kind of neet seeing the looks of the fellas face when they are being stalked by a 2 ton truck (we are not allowed to pass). This year I finally have a mustang again and will be taking it to the track.

I spent lots of time on Sears Point above San Francisco when I was in my 20s. My gawd that was a long time ago!

Wish I could still do it, but I can't afford a 600 or 650 which is what I'd want if was going to the track a lot. Fast enough to put you into a slide, but light enough to get out of it pretty easily.

What little I can remember of it, I get the feeling it must have been loads of fun, because for a while I didn't have much of a life away from the track.

So I feel ya, Jeff. Just do it, and have a blast !

I'm really looking forward to the Pridmore school! If I can sell the 14 quick enough, I'll be heading to Texas for a track day with private coaching at Eagle Canyon.

That would be sweet!... You sell the 14, you should come do Star School here @ The Ridge. ... Shit, come out this way for the races and trackday Labor Day weekend... Heard a rumor Jake Holden is coming... Gonna lap the second place rider, then pit, just to make his track record official.

I would absolutely love to! Problem is the distance, I don't have anymore vacation this year. I'm currently working 10 days on 4 days off. Using the 4 days to hit up tracks within a 10 hour drive. Next year when I get more vacation I just might have to take you up on your offer of a couch for a track weekend at the Ridge!

You have NO idea how bad I want to take you up on that! Unfortunately I work both weekends, and I need to pay a few bills off before I can afford to start doing things like that. If the offer still stands come spring I'll take you up on that!

Yep, it's a standing offer... just lemme know when you're ready, and we'll make it happen.

Actually, a couple months back, I met a guy @ The Ridge from your neck of the woods... He loads up his toy hauler once a year and heads this way for a month or so... Said Hallett was his "home track" as well. I'm sure my Buddy, Nels, has his contact info. He knows everyone. ... just another option. Wish I could remember his name. Honda guy... has a 1000rr, a couple 954's, and a 450r.

Said fuck it! I'm keeping the 14, just can't bring myself to sell it. I'll just work overtime to get where I need to be. By the way, Eagles Canyon Raceway was AWESOME! :-)

...have my busa sitting on stands with a couple minor problems that cropped up installing exhaust. Might be a while before she rolls again.....possibly not until next season. I sure am glad I have the 14. Never selling that unless I have a replacement lined up.

Been thinking about selling the Busa and getting a 600 myself. Now that Kawi has come back with the 636 for '13 it's more tempting than ever. Doubt that I'll ever be able to travel around the country to do track days, but it would sure work better at Hallett and out on the back roads.
See what the election and spring bring. For now it's getting to be dirt bike season..

I love my little 600rr! Plenty of bike for Hallett, didn't have trouble getting and staying around 1000s in Texas with some long straights.

You ever go to Chadwick Tom? Brad and I go often, hell, we're headed that way in a few hrs!

Did a dozen or more track days on the 14. Wish I had never bought a 600 zx6 race bike. Crashed my brains out on it and ended up in the hospital and taking 6 months to walk without a brace. Thats my story. I am a big bike rider, period end of story. I forgot I have wrecked every 400-600 cc machine I've owned. Lack of respect I guess.

Loved running the big bike against the pros. Melting tires on big ass powerslides, stuffing that fat sucker into corners against 675's gixxers etc. Fun fun fun FUN!!! Then riding it home because I was too jacked up and in love with it to put it in my buddies fun hauler for the trip home.....,
But that is what track days are for. Having fun running these monsters in a controlled environment. Or practicing technique for race day on your race bike.
Have fun either way you go.

Yeah, I'm there most every weekend now that the temps have dropped a bit, and I'm not working 50+ hours a week. If it doesn't rain anymore I'll probably go to Soggy Bottom MX on Friday evening, then Saturday and/or Sunday is open for Chadwick.

Yeah, let me know when your going. you racing any of the Hillbilly series this winter?

Have a good time at the track. I'd go, but out of tires on the Busa, and tires + $$ for the track day/drive expenses is a bit beyond me right now.
