I don't ride in rain but what if I am traveling and hit a sudden thunderstorm or something. ZX14R has a huge opening up in front connected to air filter. Does riding rain affect performance? What should I do after riding in rain? Dry up air filter??

I never noticed a performance change. It would take a hell of a downpour to really get the filter dripping wet. I would just keep an eye on the filter and change as necessary. Is there a air box drain tube with a bottle on it like the Gen1 has? If so, I would not even worry unless you find water in that bottle.

Rook nailed it. there's a little drain bottle you could check for water.
Ive been in some torrential downpours where the cars on the freeway were slowing to under 30mph and just so I could see I was passing people at 75+ to get out in front a bit and have the rain-x start working on my visor. Below about 50 it doesn't help much.
Just parked the bike when I stopped. Didn't ever check the filter. seems to be fine.
and PS there was so much water that after I got my waterproof boots off, there was almost a cup of water that I wrung out of each sock that had come in from the tops where my jeans were tucked in. lol.

I also got stuck on a trip from Maine to CT. It was a solid 2.5 hours of rain from heavy to light but it rained the whole time. I never thought about that huge ram air hole. Bike never skipped a beat. Hopefully the engineers took that into consideration when they designed it.

yep, throttle will feel a little crisper in cooler air, we probably have more wet days than dry days here, never effected any bikes i had in 25 years of wet riding,
your air filter should not get wet, i turned my trials bike upiide down in a river last week, it still ran after a good few kicks, filter had some water in it, not a huge amount for a bike that wwas submerged for a few seconds,
the zx will be fine
