to spencers for an upgrade? I have a sargent seat but its only the front and I am going to have to use the stock seat for a trip next month( around 1400 miles in 4 days) so I was debating sending the seat off the have it redone. He told me $75 plus shipping. This is part of the email he sent me and it sounds promising.
With your ZX14 riders area the angle can be biased more to the rear, for a more neutral position, and rotation of the hips that also helps your reach and makes it a much more comfortable riding position overall. The pan does limit what can be done to the seating position, front to back, will remain the same. Adding the Supracor/LD suspension is a necessity in this riders seat because of the surprisingly thin stock foam in the seating area. This allows your weight to be distributed across the width of the seat, rather than concentrated in the middle, reduces vibration in the seat, and dampens road shock. These changes allow you to sit more in, rather than on the seat. The Supracor/LD material works for the rider because it is a dynamic material with an instant rebound. It moves with you, working with your weight shifts for proper bike control. If you use a material in the riders section that "takes a set" it locks you in one position and fights against you. This is the main problem with foams as the rider is constantly moving, even while cruising the highway you are making small corrections in your weight distribution.
With this the rider area can be lowered about an inch without causing any problems. While it doesn't sound like much, combined with the angle correction it makes a noticeable improvement in your reach at a stop. If you go any further it will cause the raised sides of your ZX seat pan to cause some serious inner thigh pressure in normal riding position.
