Confused in Big Sky.Somehow I'm not getting this?It sounds like you're saying...if I'm following this...is...the Kawi Rep was a nice enough guy to mention that Brock helped him out?On Bikeland he mentioned this. And you're asking....what we think about the Kawi rep?Yes?Sounds like a nice guy to me.Now...BIKELAND...THAT sounds f--$%#up....removing a post of thanks to another person.Did I get that right?
Somehow...I can't imagine WHY Brock would be scared shitless of a Motorcycle rep .
Methinks something else is going on...

Now Rome...that wasn't so bad.Okay...he sounds like EVERY KAWASAKI REP I've EVER talked to.Naturally,Brock knew more than he did. That's okay.I think....maybe?I've had to do the same thing when taking my bike somewhere for something...you know...explain to em a bit what's what.So WHO deleted the post?Bikeland?Or the rep requested it.Nothing there I saw to be ashamed of...except he ought to get his knowledge a tad more organized and presentable. You noticed...he did(on his own) mention the freer flowing exhaust!+1 for him.
I talked to one of the guys at my dealer's who is a SALES guy.Parts guy.All that.He was asking ME about some stuff on the new 14....ME.Sheesh.Ya....most of em don't have a clue...they're really NOT stoked about bikes(or streetbikes anyway). You know...ya gotta kind of be "into it" to learn this stuff.Just reading without really wanting to know won't get it.

Kawi guy is definitely not smart. Anybody from this forum would have done a better job. He's probably a Harley guy -no offense.
Great Link Romans! So Brock is saying you new 14R owners should wait for a new pipe or get CT duals because they're 2.25 and can manage more hp. That the Alien Head will probably hold the power of the beast etc. He's saying he expects to gain 210-215rwhp x 1.5% = 3hp? Seriously. I hope he want us to buy all his old pipes before it makes 1 that give us 10 hp. Then again maybe kawi didn't give him 1 because they knew power gains were going to be minimal

That was embarassing.
This is not Joe Schmoe selling the whole line of Kawis and maybe Honda and Suz along with them down at the local showroom.
This is a factory rep at a trade show where they are introducing the new flagship sportbike.
Sometimes I don't know how people get the jobs they have.

You guys are MERCILESS I tell ya...just Merciless!(doesn't that nametag say "Joe" on it?)Hmmmmmm...
See guys...THAT's why Kawasaki needs us to buy their bikes....who else is gonna give em the R&D feedback they need?Feel priviledged!
"Ambassador for KHI"...has a nice ring to it,ya?
Still Romes...still not seein any reason for a deletion....looks like the rep and Brock were gettin along just fine.Brock got to show how much he knows..and that rep guy was gracious enough to not say..."Hey Buster....I'm doin the talkin here, okay?"

What I find interesting...is....Dave at Brock's told me personally(via e-mail)that they won't get a 14 till January. So he can't give me any info about mapping or that sort of thing....yet....on his site....he's got exhaust systems listed as 'fits 06 thru 12' for the 14.Not that there's anything wrong or odd about that,but....how can he design a system without actually being able to 'tune' it to the application?(meaning...construct it to the application, not powercommander it) .

There is definitely something going on. Blue and Seno say their dealers can deliver in November. You're going to tell Brock can't get 1 until January. This is not adding up. I don't care if it sounds like Pavarotti but I'm not getting $1800 actually a $1900 pipe to get 3 hp. Please someone tell me I made a mistake doing the math.

OR it could be that he has so many pipes for the 06-11 14's that he wanna make sure he sells them before he does a pipe for the 14R. If the 14 R produce let's say 200hp and there is a full system to make it reach 215hp, nobody's going to want to buy 06-11 14's and those pipes are going to be cheap. Any words from the Akky guys yet, what about Muzzy?

That's exactly what hit me as strange...him not being able to get one to at least test. You know that Kawasaki's got a whole FLEET of these new models ready to ship and have shipped to some places.Ricky has one. There's gotta be others as well.IDK if Muzzy has one,but it wouldn't surprise me...Roaringtoys has one.I mean, this whole aftermarket piping deal...Kawasaki's gonna make a bunch of money sellin bikes that have a 'promise' of such and such by installing these systems. No skin off their nose.
Actually...you know...(I think anyway)that Kawasaki has got certain contracts with certain people to help them sell their bikes. It may seem underhanded to some...but....WHY would Roaringtoys get a new 14.Just sayin.Nothing wrong with it.But look at the Roarintoys website.....CUSTOM BLING BLING BLING.Everything you could want for a bike. You think that's co-incidence.They're the biggest aftermarket deal going for customizing.I don't see anything wrong with it personally....it's all good. But I don't think this whole BADAZZ motorcycle thing is just you know...'nice bike'.There's definitely an agenda goin on if ya ask me.It's BIG BUCKS.So IDK...maybe I'm full of it...probably.Too many conspiracy flicks for me I guess!

One thing you guys seem to be overlooking about why Brock's Performance might not get a 2012 until January is just how much it pisses KHI off when guys like Brock and Muzzy spend a figurative day on the ZX14 and the rest of the year working on making Suzukis and Yamahas go fast.
Its not as bad as Harley Davidson is with its dealers, but it still has an effect.
The other thing is, over the decades I've dealt with dealers all over the country, due to work and the military taking me so many places. KHI told my current dealer that they (KHI) would start shipping the 2012 ZX14R sometime in late November. A lot of the dealers I've known would have told me, yes, I can get you one in November to get a large deposit. My current dealer is wholly realistic. Its a good thing I don't want to buy a 2012 C14 until May 2012 because thats when they will finally get one.
They are going to do the right thing and sell as many 2011s off as they can before riding season, and then charge premium prices for 2012 bikes. Not good for me, but great for them.
Sure, they'll have a 2012 ZX14R as soon as they can. Its really the only street bike that KHI changed for 2012. And that way they can say "we have one of those, if you want to spend that kind of money..."
One thing will happen is any dealer that is certain they have a sale will ask all the dealers in their regional network if they have one. Usually they can get one, still in the crate, sent to them in trade or for money. So some people will get lucky and get 2012 bikes quite early.
I'll wait until April/May when Ticket2Ride goes on, and they offer bike discounts and finance deals to die for.

Hey Guys
If Brocks doesent have a 2012R version yet and hasnt done any DYNO testing for new maps yet then why is it roaring toyz new ZX14R custom is already sporting a brocks pipe as well as Brock having a 2012R on the main page of his site sporting a brocks pipe already?
I think Brocks is hard at work with his personal ZX14R and is keeping all tests under wraps till he perfects a new map.
Just My Opinion

1+ I'm with the Snuff.
I don't know how deep Brock would go with that stepper idle. Me buying a shop manual is a lot cheaper than buying the bike to find out. Without the book I am lost. Without the bike? The abstract makes the repair easier once you can count out that signal or loop among 'the loop it mates with'... Got that memo'd, sunk, etched, buried in your head, blue?
The subs make sense where, they being out, never cut a bike down. Ran just as well either way. You could run a lot of air screw in or out like a carb. Now, this is a different animal. And if Brock prides getting every last out of the bike and never touches the valve cover?
Good Luck BROCK!

Well....I haven't seen ANY specs yet on the midpipe diameter...or how the configuration it actually set up.I'm certainly not getting a PC or pipes till later...maybe never depending. If my suspicions are right, this new bike isn't gonna need any actual "mods" to make her a beast in slime's clothing.Apparently it's got 3 cats in it.Probably 2 of em in the muffler(s),and one down at the midpipe.IDK.I'm thinking really that a simple gearing change is about all a guy like me would really need to up the thrust without trying to UP the HP and torque.Ricky's runnin a 9 something.Okay...pretty sure he's gonna get that number down, probably way down when it's all said and done.He was afterall on a 1/8th mile strip. Not much stopping room with that.I don't drag...have no idea what it entails strip wise or anything else.
This new engine, and the 'new' Ktrc on there...pulling flies may be a thing of the past...meaning...she may not perform as well as leaving them in.The bike has TWO power modes plus the Ktrc that fine tunes the traction for the power and road condition(s).Those secondaries may be playing a much bigger role in there on THIS motor than thy did on the earlier ones.I'd be curious to see what position they are in when the Traction control is turned off,and the mode selector is in Full power mode. You know they refined the secondaries on the later models...virtually eliminating the need to remove. So why couldn't KHI on this new motor have designed the throttles to be even MORE power sensitive.Throttle response is one of the BIG selling points about this new bike...they made a pretty good deal out of saying(in the spec sheets)how throttle response had been improved...something like that.Improved from WHAT?I think almost anyone who has a zx14 regardless of year, can say that the throttle response/power delivery is pretty strong right now...straight out of the gate(except the 06's and 07's).

Please correct me if I am wrong but wasn't KTRC the old, all but useless (nobody could tell it was functioning by test ride) traction control 'a la 2008 ZX-10?? .....or was that KIMS?

Hmmmm..well...in 08,maybe.This is 2012(almost).The Connie's got it.The zx10R has it.Only natch for the big bird to have it...I do believe I read in Cycleworld or some mag up there like that that the (new)(zx10's,Connie)(not the 2012 models)having Ktrac were the BEST available out there. The most advanced and performing traction control made.?????I wouldn't know what traction control feels like anyway!Guess I'll be finding out. It's disableable. So that's kinda cool. But if it makes the ride more enjoyable...I'm all in.
If I'm not mistaken....you don't actually "feel" it working.Just kinda takes care of stuff as you go along.Apparently, you shouldn't be feeling ANY loss of traction...that's the whole point, yes? If she's slippin, something isn't right.???
I'd guess here...IF you cornered at say 160,and felt the rear end going south...having the traction control would stop that from happening, long as yer tires could handle the conditions.I don't have any idea what it would do IF your tires were somehow not able to physically be up to the task? You know...cheap tires or something.Milliseconds...you most likely wouldn't even know it's doing it's job. That's what I'm getting out of it?IDK.This deal about "poor traction riding conditions"...this is gonna be interesting to actually see how this thing is gonna work.I mean...yer rollin along...boom...bad traction up ahead. You just toggle the bar switch..and VOILA!Excellent traction(as far as possible anyway with a big azz bike).Sounds pretty cool actually.Probably have a way to preset the mode(s) so if ya push, say, for "less power",the KTRAC will automatically select the preset value (that you've programmed in from experience) for ya so ya don't have to do a bunch of looking at the display to tell ya where yer at.Nice IMO.My dealer said the Ktrac and Power selectors work in conjunction with what you want the bike to do(well, yeah ).So apparently, there's lots of possible combinations to fine tune the ride.I told him some of the speeds I ride at...occasionally.He smiled and said"Well..I kinda hate to say this...but...I think you're gonna be riding a lot faster now"...they did spend several days of classroom learning about this new 14."A lot faster now"....sheesh....I haven't changed...the BIKE has.I mean...who's runnin this show...ME...or the Bike? Definitely don't want to get that confused now,do we?
From what I understand about this deal...the power selector changes the mapping9Full power or Less power).Separate from the Ktrac. And the Ktrac has 3 settings for whatever road condition.Separate.They CAN work together,or separately.Depending on how you want to ride.

Check out the front as well...NOBODY who takes "decent" pics...even a novice...would post a pic with a serious distortion like that.Look at it....it's not correct.I never even noticed the wheels...but yeah...that's a stock 14 wheel on there isn't it?Check out the front rib design.THAT's a 14R front wheel.I'm not into deceptions.I think I'll be getting any aftermarket piping system from someone else.
Ya...photoshopped alright. That whole rear portion from the frame/battery cover on down.

Check out the October edition of Sport Rider - talks about traction control systems, including Kawasaki's in detail. Pretty good read...
