Thanks Tom, great article, looks like I might try a set of the Pirelli Diablo SuperCorsa SPs next time around. My Bridgestone BT-016s didn't fair too badly either.

Thanx for a informative article Tom, I think i will be looking into Pirellis for trackday use. I'm sometimes a little worried about sidewall stiffness of the front tire (trackday/sport) with the bigger weight of the 14 (especially if you are weighing above 200 pounds)Most sport and track tires were probably developed with 1000's and jockey size blokes in mind. Anyone with experience of Bridgestone 023 tire(front and rear)eg.longevity and wet weather performance? I am used to getting an average of 4500km (2800 miles) out of a Bridgestone 021 rear and about double that in front. We do a lot of hard hi-speed riding( running average speeds of 220-240kph for long distances.) Would be great to hear milage for different touring and sport orientated tires in real life conditions and riding styles. I think weight will make a big difference. I ride 95% without a pillion and weigh aprox 115kg 250pounds(for some okes that is as good as riding two up LOL)

Paul,

Most of my riding is 2 up at a rather fast pace on twisties roads. I get 3500 miles out a rear pilot road 2 and get a 2 to 1 front and rear.

With the Q2's I got 3000 out of the rear, I really like the Q2's and will run them on the track my next time out. They don't square off and will actually wear the shoulders out before the center if you like powering out of the corners.

Thanx Heathun

I think I might need to try the Q2's then because it doesn't make sense to swap tires everytime for a short stint at the track. A rear tire in RSA costs approx R1500-R1700 ($220-250 US) and this means you want to get maximum out of each set. I also really enjoys the twisties and then the Q2 would make sense.

I got an extra set of wheels for my track tires, and just swap wheels for track days. That way I can use sport touring tires on the street for wear milage, and have stickies for the track.

Your only getting 3500 out of a PR2?Minimum I'm getting in 6000.The best I've ever gotten is 8000+.My friend on his 06 FZ1 got 12,000 out of his last rear. What air pressure you running? The Michelin guys told me to run 39-40 for the 14 to get the milage.

I run 40 'lbs and i get ~6000--8000 on Michelins. The BT-003s I have ready to go on feel very soft sitting hre at room temp. I'm not expecting them to last as long but that is nothing to worry about since many report getting under 3000 miles on a rear tire. I actually wish I could ware mine out faster so I could try more brands of tires.

I got 5500 out of the stock tire before putting on Pilot Road 2's. I better get 9 to 10,000 out of it or I will go back to Pilot 2ct's.

I had a Honda Nighthawk 750 one time that I got 10,000 miles on a set of original (hard as Bakelite) Pilot Roads.
On the Busa, I get 5000 miles on a set of Road 2s, 2500 on Powers. Fronts I might get another 1000 with, but it would be pretty rough going by the end of that extra 1000.
I am always amazed at people who can get that kind of mileage out of a set of tires.
