C14 Handlebars?
01/23/12 9:03 AM

First post. Been lurking on both forums since `06. My bike is `06 Black with factory centerstand and heli risers. Best motorcycle I ever owned! My question is does anyone know if C14 upper triple clamp and bars will work on the zx? I like the lsl kit but would be interested in the C14 option if it would work. Could be a cheaper way to go?

Might fit but have you seen how high they are? Tbe bars probably be taller than the windshield. Not to mention that all the electrical and hydraulic lines probably not long enough. Just my guess.

I have a homebuilt bar mount adapter similar to the LSL set-up and the levers kiss the corners of the fairing where the screen mounts. If you put C-14 apehangers on a ZX, you'd have to reduce the steering lock or cut the fairing and screen to make them work.

LOL C14 handlebars are not much higher nor farther back than an LSL with a riser block and Superbike High bar like I have.

Many C14 riders have to buy riser blocks and/or wedges to bring the stock grips up and back more.

Apehangers? I think not.

Oh and the C14 top clamp "may" work, since the front forks are essentially the same unit. They may or may not hit the fairing.

I have my setup adjusted so only at full lock (like to use the fork lock) does anything touch the fairing.

Looking at that pic that would be a little extreme! Lol Thanks for replies. Looks like I will have to save up for lsl.

They look like apehangers to me.

Yeah. LSL may be the ticket. Those look a little extreme and would probably interfere with fairing.

As stated, the fairing is a major hurtle, next is:

1. Throttle cables are too short = C's cables.
2. Clutch cable may be too short = Steel braided ~ measure length.
3. Front brake line may be too sort = Run two clean lines with a long banjo bolt for two.
4. Switches = Use the C's or; Cut wires to extend? Stretch main wire harness? No, cough up for switches complete [if] the switch harness are longer only. About the only cheap way out is extend wires.
5. Top triple tree;
a. I need my same O/D of the fork tube = 1st tie-in.
b. I need my fork distance to be the same as the top tree of the 14 to fit the C even = 2nd hurtle.
b. I need my center nut to be the same distance away from the centers to the top tree = 3rd tie-in fits right over the lower tree of the 14 = Done/work$/$he fit$/Me wallet$ light.

LOL Danno do you even know what ApeHangers are?

Surely not something you have to lean forward with your arms inclined down to hold onto.....
