Gonna take a little trip next week from SoCal to north Oregon. Can anyone recommend some good roads or their favorite route. The person that I'm gonna meet in Oregon sez "just hop on I-5 and never get off and you'll be here in a flash".

Well, that ain't gonna happen, I got 3 days to get there and am looking for some recommended ride routes once I get north of LA.

I know at least. One is Hwy, a local favorite up here. You could cut across on it from 101, to 5. Hwy 101 is a good one too though.

5 would be my LAST choice of roads. North of SF either take Hwy 1 up the coast or 101 to Avenue of the Giants which goes through the redwoods with very little traffic. At Eureka there is Hwy 36, or 299 or 3 all of which are fun, scenic roads. Some lead out to 5 but you can stitch various routes tegether to spend minumum time on the freeway.
Southern Oregon is full of good roads. Consult Butler maps.

Visit Pashnit and find any good motorcycle road in Calif... there is no shortage of fine roads... the only limit is time and weather...
