Heading out to work in the morning here for the last few days have been a little chilly. It does take much for a cold tire to spin out on a cold road. Ride safe everyone, I hate reading those "I went down" post.

I can't bare the thought of it. If winter comes early, I'll still be riding. I'm not giving in until they salt the roads. I'm hoping to make through November like last year.

The salt gets into everything and you will never get it out. Basically it eats almost anything it comes in contact with. I know somebody will be technical how it creates a reaction or something. You just don't want it on the bike. I usually ride till the first salt and won't ride again till two good solid rains.

My coldest was ~30 degrees F. Really not bad at all if the sun is out and you flatten down to get out of the wind. A thick pair of gloves is a good idea, too.
Salt sux bigtime. I went for one ride in the winter to test flies out and I got pitting on my axle nut and that wire retaining rod that holds the rear brake line. Back sprocket also discolored. I don't think I had any of that corrosion before I put her in storage.

Yea Rook, Once you get that stuff on your bike there is no getting off. Scrub a dub dub it and put it away, then bring it out in the spring to your dismay, CORROSION!
The coldest I have ridden was the teens and at night. You would be amazed at how much the sun helps. I run a heated shield when it's that cold. You'll never see anything after 5 minutes with a standard shield and your eyes will water and freeze if you have it open.
Ninjamaster, Snow there normal for this time of the year? I'm used to seeing it in October. It was 20 Wednesday night, but not quite this early. Been snowmobiling in 2 feet of snow before Halloween.

Speaking of cold weather and putting the bike away, I hope everyone continues to post through the winter months. Life will get pretty rough until March. Let's hope for an early Spring. You guys who live in warm climates will have all kinds of opportunities to rib the rest of us.
