Hello folk's I have a 2014 zx14r, and thinking of the brocks, alien head 2. Which is the best way to go? Pcv, or ecu flash? Thanks in advance

Go with a flash. A PC only changes the fueling whereas a flash changes fueling, removes top speed limiter, will remember last TC setting, raises rev limit ect.

Okay flash it is, whos the got to for a flash now days? Is Schnitz flash any good? He is local to me

Shcnitz will get you the basic function changes if that’s all you’re after and is a good bang for the buck flash, but Guhl, 2WDW are a better option although a bit more pricey.

For a new bike I'd go the flash rout but some tuners recommend using a PC5 with their flash anyway.

I have Ivan's flash. If street drivability is important then Ivan's flash is the way to go.

I had slip on akras and now have a full brocks.

I can still get 240 miles to a tank at a fast pace. His philosophy is here.

Worth every penny. He has the 14R and tested 100 runs to make this flash

Hi, I am in the same boat. everything I have read is go with Ivan.

For street use Ivan's flash, for racing Guhl or Brocks which is the same as Guhl. I doubt there is 2-3 HP difference but Ivan developed his flash on the dyno and with his own ZX14 and a lot of street testing. My 2012 has Ivan's flash and full Akra exhaust and I love it. Not sure about Schnitz but less expensive and you can choose how many options you want. Excellent vendor and I have spent a lot of money there.

For those of you who have the full exhaust, did you wrench it yourself? With that fairing and having to remove the radiator, it looks like an all day project. I currently have the akra slip-ons and the header is on order.

Brocks has an excellent installation video on how to install their ( or any header) without too much dificulty. Getting the flanges on with the radiator installed is a bit tight, better with 2 people.

The two upper end bolts, and the lower center bar that holds the radi in place, remove those, then bungee cord the radi towards the front wheel by kinking the radi hoses so much... you just cleared for exhaust removal. Maybe 2 more removals on a used set of ex. seals.

But more the 'do it right the first time' is to run a new set of ex. seals and call it a day... or way less for the whole swap job.

Yup i did mine, watched a few vids asked a few questions, luckily i got a lift, when you pull the radiator foward protect the side facing the header with soda box cardboard or sommething incase during the swap it gets kissed. other then that do what hubsay. and donnt worry about the time it takes, take your time and enjoy it.

Easily! I don't try to do my wrenching fast and I probably avoided a lot of mishaps that way since I'm not a professional mechanic. I would expect to have the bike out of commission for a week. I put full systems on my busa and my 14 and I was in no big hurry. A shop will do it faster but they ARE under time restraints and that is why I would not ever go to one unless I absolutely had to. If they wreck something, you probably won't be told about it. Actually, at this time of year, you might not get your hopefully undamaged bike back from a shop for a few months. Might as well do it yourself if you can get down on the floor. If it's just a matter of lacking experience, ask all you need right here. I have a tutorial for a Gen 1 aftermarket exhaust install that might help.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. Let me see what happens. Local dealer can probably do it in 1/3 the time. I probably should not have bought the headers, I already have the akra slip-ons. But I am probably going to do Ivans flash and he recommends doing the headers since I already have the slip ons.

You don't need the headers but then again, you don't really need the flash either. It's plenty fast stock. The really nice thing about the full system other than getting the best engine performance possible is that you drop even more weight. I was really impressed with the feel of the bike after putting on an exhaust that weighed less than half that of the stock exhaust and at 17 lb or so, my full system isn't even especially light as full systems go.

When I bought my bike in early 2012, the only thing that was available were Two Bros slipons, which worked well and held up great (carbon). I later added an Akra header. Noticeable difference.

I got the headers yesterday, Went and talked to dealer service dept. They seemed very knowledgeable about the project. Service manager said he could do it in three hours. To me that sounds like a no brainer particularly this time of year. Windchill here today was below zero and my garage is not heated. I don't want to be wrenching this time of year. Thanks for all the advice.
