Lowering my ZX14
05/30/14 11:56 AM

Just got my 09 zx-14 in yesterday. Never even road one. Was going to but I'm 5'7" and could barely tip toe to touch the ground. WAY to high. Are they supposed to be this high stock? Guess I need lowering links and the will do the trick? Was reading online I should get risers for the handbars and lower the forks too? What are peoples thoughts on lowering the bike and still not effecting anything handling wise? Its way too high for me now.

Lowering links and raise the fork 1/2 inch or so. Really makes a difference in ride height. It will feel slightly more heavy going into the corners but as long as the suspension is setup right it will still handle just as good.

I have never measured but I believe you will reduce the seat height by about a half inch if you go with a Saddleman seat. The back of the seat is lower, the front where it overlaps the gas tank is not much different than OEM. You could have an apolstery shop carve out the foam in your stock seat to make it less slanted forward and lower. Used OEM seats are cheap on Ebay. $75 is what I got mine for. Mint condition.
