Anybody got a link or pattern for heat shields?
07/15/26 4:37 PM

Hi, I am having to go aftermarket fairings for a 2018 ZX-14R, ABS, SE.
Kawasaki (USA), is OUT across everywhere according to my local Kawi dealer,
and even if they could get them, pricing is INSAIN!

So, I did some searching and found the "Monster" fairings, and most say they are not as good as OEM but probably as good as you can get from a 3rd party as far as fitment and quality is concerned.

BUT.......... I realize I will have to re-used, bolts, gromets, well-nuts etc. transferred over from the damaged OE fairings to the aftermarket ones. But, I was wondering for the Heat Shielding of the various pieces of the fairings that (are on the OEM), is there a "Heat Shield Kit" for fairings? Or if not, would someone have the "patterns" to cut out some. It appears that all the fairing/heat shielding is roughly 5mm thick, with aluminum side and the thickness being made of high density foam with peal and stick..............

If it is a make your own thing, and if you made your own, what material (and link to material) did you use to make your fairing heat shields. IF........... you happen to have made a cut pattern for the various pieces or know of a website link that might have the cut pattern, please pass it my way.

More like finding a car shop that deals in racing. Might call and ask about 'stick-um' on one side and aluminum shield on the other side. Comes in sheets and is cut to fit. Might ask Yoshimura in California where they get theirs.

Stuff is very common among racing shops and whatnot. I'd try a local performance shop or try the national auto parts centers.

If the heat shields you have in your OEM fairings aren't damaged, you probably can just peel them off and stick them in the new fairings, maybe with a shot of Super 77 if you think it's needed. There is self adhesive heat shield material available on line and also self adhesive foam available in sheets. Stick your heat shield material to your foam material, voila!

Or you could just buy some of this stuff for a few bucks:

If you can't copy/paste that link, it's

10pcs Car Engine Hood Sound Deadening Panels- Thermal Insulation Material with Adhesive, 5mm Thick, Suitable for Universal Car and Truck Hood Insulation, Noise Reduction, and Heat Retention

on TEMU

Or you could check Ebay for any Gen2 side covers that have the heat shields still intact. Rip 'em off and reuse them in your Monsters.

I don't have a pattern but I do have a photo of a straight on view of the inside of a fairing cover. Both LH fairing cover and RH have identical heat shields, just mirror image. I could post the photo here, you get a sheet of tracing paper, tape over the inside of your fairing and sketch away using my photo as a guide. Flip the tracing paper and you have the pattern for the other side.

Twenty-one dollars and thirty-six cents a piece plus shipping from Kawasaki Parts Nation. I'd just buy them. Part # 39156D

...or if you want to go fast, you might consider race fairings. Gonna cost you but if you need the high speed reliability...? You'd need to find race fairings that have indicator and headlight mounting holes or nix that idea.

Or keep after Ebay and buy anything that's not cracked. Repaint the whole set.

sidenote: HOLY CRAP! Used OEM fairings are pretty expensive on Ebay, almost as much as I'd expect to pay for new if those were even available anymore...at least for the Gen1. If you decide to go the Ebay rout PoppaBear, I hope Gen2 used fairings are more reasonably priced.
