A ????? of ZX14'S
01/24/12 6:34 AM

Hi to all,

In sunny South Africa we as ZX14 owners get together for day runs once in a while.
The biggest group i have ridden in is 24 ZX14's.

But just calling a bunch of zx14's on the road a group doesn't sound right. The ZX14 is to special for that.

Any ideas for the collective noun?

A ?????????? OF ZX14'S.
LETS HAVE SOME FUN WITH THIS ONE AND FORGET ABOUT YOUR WINTER AND THE REASONS TO BUY OR NOT TO BUY A "R".

Here are some pics i did with the group in the middle of winter 2009.
I will be partaking in another ZX14 (group) ride this Sunday.

Your ZX14s are more geographically concentrated than ours in the USA.

Even though a member of this forum lives in eastern Maryland, and I live in western Maryland, we are close to 3 hours apart and seem to ride in opposite directions.

I've been to two COG Nationals so far (Concours Owners Group) and each time there has been 1 or 2 other ZX14s there.

I went to the Kawasaki Ticket to Ride in Bowie, MD last year and there were zero other ZX14s (aside from the demo bike), so mine had a decent size group of guys (and girls) around it several times during the day.

I think I have seen 3 other ones in my part of Maryland since I got it in 2008.

Mostly I see Harleys, and cruisers in general of all makes, and true R bikes.

Let's also hear in what size ZX14 groups you have ridden in.

I have to agree with privateer. I have owned my ZX14 since late september 2011, and never seen over 2 ZX14s together. I would like to see a get together like you have in your area. I would like to see a group get together at Deals Gap, or someplace that has some good roads to ride.
I have a Suzuki Boulevard M109, and they have a mid atlantic meet every year, and the paticipation is the best. Normally there are as many as 100 or more from Texas to Canada. Even the pre-meet that they have the week before, has anywhere from 15-25 (I usually attend the pre-meet). This year I am going to both, but taking the ZX14 to one of them to show them a real bike.
One of my riding buddies just purchased a 2012 Concourse 14, so that is probably as close to riding in a group as I will get.

Concours not Concourse. Lol no bad, several major vendors of C14 farkles have been caught spelling it wrong on their websites. I can't spell either, which is why my posts often show as having been edited.

You could do a lot worse for a riding buddy. That C14 will stay with you if the rider is any good.

I'm not talking about WOT, of course, but normal spirited riding.

I am assuming that the C14 that you have is the touring bike. By us it is badged as GTR1400.
It is an amazing feeling blacklighting, to ride in such a big group of ZX14's. It is very organized and we have bike marshals that block the intersections in towns when we ride in such a big group. Every one just stops and stares.

I'm not sure what to call the group, but seeing that reminds me of the plot device in Star Trek (Next Gen) where they found out that excessive use of warp speed was causing localized degeneration of space-time.

If a space-time rift occurs in South Africa I will know why.

A very impressive sight! Alot of HP in one place, could affect the earths rotation alright! Lol
I wouldn't think there's 24 zx14s in the whole country, the most I've see at the same time is 2!
What about calling the group, a 'force' of 14s?

sooo many busas......sooo little time!

My friend with the C 14 has no trouble keeping up with me. I still consider myself a beginner (been riding 5 1/2 years), and I am what I call a very conservative rider. As for the spelling, thats what you get with public education (ha! ha!). Maybe one day I will get it right.

Frolic'Inn R'n << The sleep over (tour) group

"Caper 14's"; Not jellybeans in a line, no. Since the dealer covers cough-couch, other bike(s) I own, the dealer is happy he sees you push what he owns?:

K-Ape-R

Caper: "A playful leap or hop" (someplace)

K for, I'll get it. Ape for Aprilia. R for the new bike. 14 says the 14 is universal either or logo says both gen=bikes. I hop places on my R, leap on my 14 (if conditions are right).

In my motorcycle club Wiseguys Md. chapter we have 5 14's out of 11 members in my chapter. VP has a busa so he's the odd ball out of the group. 1 member just bought a new r sold his 07. We're out of Bowie Md.

Nice to know there is a mc in Bowie. Are you a sportbike club, or ... ?

I have seen a few others in my area but never more than one at a time. There were 2 of us at a meet and greet for another forum a few years ago and I think out of 5-6k members there are 4 or 5 total on the forum. Last year in sturgis I did see 4 different 14's.

I guess i can understand why. Looking on the map i see South Africa is probably smaller than Texas. In a way it does make your rides more special. I live in a town about 45km from Johannesburg. Pretoria (our capital city) is about 70km's away. In a area of about 150km radius i would have about 10 Kawasaki dealerships to choose from.

On Sunday morning rides (breakfast runs) as we call them, i could easily encounter 6 to 8 zx14's. We have a very rife biking community. Harley,s are abundant and mostly in the our way. Our biggest seller's are Beemer's. They outnumber all bike sales 2 to 1.

On any given Sunday morning run there could be around 1 to 2K bikes at the popular riding spots.
We have a yearly toy run around December. There are 5 venues around South Africa where the bikes meet up with toys strapped to the bikes to be given to charity. The one nearest to me had 14K bikes attend last year.

Yeah Priv we're primarily sportbike bike but any make model is welcome. We have the 5 14's, a spyder, of course the Busa also a Mean streak. Most of us are 40+ so we take it easy mostly. Every once in a while we wick it up for a short burst. We concentrate on community and charitable events. All of us have kids so we keep it family friendly. Most are DOD employees with high security clearances so we're extremely no nonsense allowed. I'm the Chaplain so I have to show some reserve while riding. It would look pretty bad me getting a ticket!!!!

Sorry it took me a while to reply... Seeing all those beauties together got me all emotional! Here we go -

Monster Fest?

Beast Bash?

Poor ideas, its late. What can I say? One thing for sure... If you guys wind all those things up at once on a good stretch of tarmac, you'll disrupt international weather patterns!!!
