Seat Suggestions?
03/14/12 3:12 AM

So I've been doing some reading on what people have said about the Corbin and Sargent seats. I feel like the general consensus is that the Corbin is way too firm. A lot of people say to go with a stock Connie seat but I tried that and did not like the added height. That leaves the Sargent seat which is pretty expensive. I have heard of some people going with a "spencer mod" but I'm not quite sure what that is. Could someone explain? Also any help or suggestions as to which way to go next would be appreciated!

I had the Spencer mod done to my stock ZX14 seat, and it was pretty nice!

I wanted a lower seat though, so ended up going with a 2010 C14 Low Gel seat which was great, but close to $600 new.

Russell's Day Long Seat.

I love mine. It is like sitting on a couch. Heard it from a couple of my friends because it is wider; however, after a couple hundred miles, they were also asking if I want to ride their bikes.

I have no affiliation with the company, just really happy with the seat.

I think you will really like it, conneaut14, starting in 2010 KHI put better and denser foam and gel in them, and it will adjust to you after you ride it awhile.

For me, I'm waiting on Loren Baldwin to send me my Grand Touring saddle. Its on the obscene side of a grand but with dual heated zones and custom made to my weight and inseam, its worth it. I think when I ride to Arkansas this summer I will be very glad I got it.

Just got an email back from Spencer. It looks like it would be $90.00 for the mod on my seat for the rider and passenger area. I'm thinking that this would be a good route to try instead of dropping $500 on one that I'm not sure if I'll like or not.

Check out the Saddleman Tech one piece for the ZX-14. Dennis Kirk has a good pic but the site is not wortking right now or I'd make a link.

Very sporty and lighter than the other aftermaket seats.

You can't beat OEM for weight,

privateer, I'm considering the Spencer mod.
What changes did you have him make? I understand his changes don't change the look of the stock cover surface?
I just want something softer. Same shape on the surface but something that would allow me to "sink in" approx' a 1/2" more.
A little softer and that should also help keep me from slowly sliding toward the tank on longer rides. Thanks for any help.

We have this thread going, Monte. This'll give you way more info than just a picture of the product.
