This one's for you, Greenie!
11/17/12 3:59 PM

Since the GreenMeister is without bike right now...

Little surprise this afternoon. Third gear. It was such a cool feeling. Had this happen at my second track day totally by accident. Also a few times coming over a rise or shifting off a little bump in the road or something. Mind you this is footshifting and it was NOT WOT. No steering damper either. No shake though... I seem to pull a bit to one side when I try to wheelie but these happy accidents, I stay nice and loose (until a second or two later-lol).

heheee nuthin wimpy about any wheelies on the 14. First gear scares the crap out of me!! Haha, I still don't have the balls to keep the throttle open and shift up to hold it aloft through the next gear. This was totally happenstance. I don't know if I have the stones to do this on purpose but I will try.

It was 50 F here today. Not exactly cold air. I really think that BMC race filter DOES do something in the upper revs. I was always told "you'll never notice the difference of 1-2 extra hp" but if that is all it is, I am noticing a little change, I think. I'll be testing against the OEM filter tomorrow.

learning to steer on one wheel, that would be a new skill! Not on the 14...and if I were going to do something that illegal I think I would just go a lot faster and be on two wheels. Looks cool though.

How the hell do people get "borrowed" music tracks in their personal videos they put on youtube? I'll never figure that out. FaceBook won't even let me do it.

if I were going to do something that illegal

If you did, would be smart Not to show your plate # as they did. Try that here while posting your plate and they will be coming with hand cuffs. Brave in more ways than one lol.

The guy hit a bump at the end of that bridge to make it jump up. That wasnt a "power wheelie". Sorry if I have ruffled any panties with this post.

Been over that ramp a hundred times. No bump. The wheelie does occur at the point where the concrete wall lowers but no change in the pavement. The 45 tooth is definitely responsible. That will not happen with stock gearing.

I went back to duplicate the event last week but no wheelie. I think I just need to be as free and aggressive on the throttle as i was that day. I'm a little scared to do it again. lol

I have a 'dip' in one of the roads I have flown on...and I tried a couple of times to do like those guys in the IOM,lofting as they clear the 'rise'...it's just at the start of a turn as well...a sweeper, not bad...but a turn.I gassed her 'kinda' hard in 3rd coming into that...sheesh....no way.I was already hitting like 120...and still the front just kinda stayed horizontal while the dip fell away and came back up,in the turn.Nah....stopped trying to get airborne there. That dip is in one of my vids...but you won't see me flying....that was reserved for the 'final filming';) =0

Work on your slower power wheelies to build confidence. You know, pop up in first, short shift into 2nd(no clutch) and ride out 3rd on power gently putting the nose down. If you get the ten eleven o'clock wheelies down to a science move on if you dare. Balanced wheelies at 12 o clock = some Scary shit lol

I can upshift clutchless no problem with the quickshifter but WOT in 1st gear 9000+ rpm???? YIKES!! I don't often do that with two wheels ion the ground. But the wheelie thing has me hooked so I will have to figure out my method. As for now, I just let off on the gas and it comes down pretty soft, softer than some of the bumps I might encounter on an old road. First step is to resist the urge to let off on the gas. That's survival instinct so It will take some work before shifting up. It'll happen though. That and 190 mph. Next summer.

That and 190 mph. Next summer.

Not simultaneuosly, mind you. Wheelie/190 mph two separate events.

That is like the Ghost Rider turbo busa vid. If I can ever wheelie at top speed, it will be a long time...of course that is what we all say about wheelies and top speed in general (I'll never do that! NO WAY!!) but after a while it becomes no big deal.
