Custom One Piece Leathers?
09/14/10 1:37 PM

Anyone know where could I get a set of custom leathers sewn up? Nothing off the rack is ever going to fit me, legs and arms are just too long. I was hoping to find someone that I could send my measurements to and they could sew up a set.

If you want the best fit and the best suit period. Make sure you are sitting down when they give you a price. I think they still offer two options a full custom suit and off the rack suit that is then tailored for you. Also be ready to wait

What are we talking here, $2500, $3000 for a set of Vanson custom leathers? What's your hide worth?....that's the way I figure it...no pun intended of course! Did you buy a set?

Here's the basic problem, I can't even find an off the rack leather jacket that fits right. If I fit my chest and arm length then the waist is so big (gotta leave plenty of slack around the middle for healthy Americans and their junk food diets...sarcasm intended) that it looks like a parachute around my midsection. Fit the waist and then the upper chest is ridiculously tight and the arms are two inches too short. Almost comical. European fit is also a disaster, do those guys ever work out? They must have tiny waists and sunken chests. I spent an entire afternoon at the biggest leather merchant in Dallas, MotoLiberty and they didn't have a single jacket that came close to fitting me.

2000 sounds like a good start.. I can't afford and I don't need a custom suit. Did you try on the Alpinestars line? The Alpinestars MX1 and RC1 are both race cut suits meaning they are tighter in the arms, chest, fit more snug in the waist and the sleeves are more curved. I would not get one of those suits if you just plan on street ridding they are really uncomfortable. The Alpinestars Trigger,SP1 and Charger are all more of a relax fit and run a little larger than the marked size. I'm 5'11 225 and I have a size 60 I can put a Knox chest protector and back protector in the suit and it fits really well. I think the best way to go is to order several suits from newenough.com and see which one fits you the best that’s what I did. They have free return shipping and they will give you 10% if you just call in and ask for it. It’s hard to go wrong even with an off the rack suit that fits well which is really what matters. I see guys with several crashes on a quality off the rack suit. Check the size charts on newenough they give you max sleeve chest and inseam lengths. If you don't mind spending the money get a custom suit.Sportbiketrackgear.com puts out some well made videos concerning suit sizing and materials. I could not fit into a RS Tachi suit to save my life they are nice suits but they just don’t fit me. I have a buddy who is 6’3 240 and he has a Arlene Ness Kangaroo leather suit and it fits him really well. It’s hard to go wrong with any of the top names it really comes down to how well they fit

Kruz has 4 foot long legs. I don't think he's going to find a suit that is right if it's off the rack. You really have to insist on extra length in the leg. The knee armor takes up a few inches and the sport riding position will take up another couple inches for you.

Kruz,

I don't know your size or build but I have always gone with Vanson. Do to my size I can never get anything off the rack so I wait til they have an open house sale where there prices are cut and old inventory is priced to move all custom cuts are free if your going to get a custom suit.

Best thing to do is check out the website.

Good luck,
