A thing of beauty
09/24/13 12:17 AM

Well I finally got my Akrapovic headers back from the ceramic coaters and installed on the bike. They are a thing of beauty, and will hold their shine now. I can definitely say that they have changed the way in which power is delivered. It actually feels smoother, and if I had to guess, I'd say more powerful too. I haven't been able to pin down the difference in operating temperature yet, but logic dictates they'll be keeping more of the heat inside the headers than around them on the engine. The weather here is not ideal for full noise cornering, but I had the front wheel consistently dancing coming out of corners in 3rd gear at 6 - 7000 RPM while still on the edge of my seat. Giiddyupp!!!
Took a couple of pics to show the fit and finish. After a good ride on Sunday, the finish is still the same as the bottom pic on the headers and the link pipe.

That will be my next mod. I assume they are same angles as stock pipes and will take my Yoshi cans and mid pipes.
Without the ceramic coating. that's to flash.

If you don't mind, what was the cost to have the coating put on the headers?

Hey Neil. They cost me $235 from Ceramic Coat Australia. They're a part of Pacemaker Headers.
I assume they are same angles as stock pipes and will take my Yoshi cans and mid pipes.

Towball, They slip right on. I have the Yoshimura R77's hooked up. Fitting and angles are all the same as stock headers.

Looks sweet.

Hey Sweet, my akro headers should be here this week & im thinking of ceramic coating also.
Apart from the looks were there any performance benefits?
Have they discoloured in any way?

Thanks :)

G'day Martin. The only performance gain will come from the exterior of the front of the headers being about 200 degrees Celsius cooler. The motor will stay a little cooler longer. Hope this helps.

Freakin sweet, how do you keep that radiator looking flawless? Did you add anything to the front of your radiator looks darker. Here in cali we get a bunch of bugs when riding back country roads in summer. Its like a part time job when I commute 100 miles round trip in summer time, get home and bike is all spatterd with bug guts, front of radiator gets bad.

Thanks SS. I like it too. I custom fabricated several stainless mesh radiator guards when I had my 07 ZX14. I just couldn't find one with the right protection and enough breathing. I kept this black powder coated one when I traded the bike. I think it looks great in black to darken out the front end. It's easy to clean too.
