Fairing under exhaust
09/29/12 10:38 AM

Isn't that fairing below the exhaust just for aesthetics? Thinking of removing it and wondered who thought it looked better that way. I noticed Wee had removed his, looked pretty good, probably saves a pound or two. Just curious...

I removed my lower small fairing, and use the bracket to record GoPro footage underneath, or on the side of the bracket.

Most aftermarket exhausts or a centerstand necessitates removing it anyway.

Mine has been off of bike for years now No changes that I can tell. Did read somewhere that it affected aeros of bike at high speeds. Like 150+ speeds.

Took the belly pan off after a year. Got tired of it. I think it looks better without. Have an aftermarket zaust and kickstand now----guess it is a good thing i prefer the without belly look.

I doubt it matters at all for performance especially if it is true that aftermarket systems are designed to fit w/out it. Seems as though it may improve aeros for top speed but the thing weighs 1.25 lbs which would seem likely to negate any improvement.

haha, cool! Rook and his ever-present scale...it is pretty neat to see the actual weights of the parts! I do like the look better without the fairing as well. Guess I'll have to test the aerodynamics above 150 soon...
