Go for it. What are the dangers:
1. A bottom end loss in [you'll find out] yeah, that range.
2. A speed even occurred. You opened the spigot up on air flow so there might be a loss of fresh fuel being pulled out via cam-overlap. It's a-straight-shot-out, not zig-zag to slow down the pules out.
3. A physical fatigue sets in with loud noise with extended riding.
4. A little smile kicks in with the slight gain in HP and oh shit did the cop [who went by] hear that?
1. Bottom end loss, you slip the clutch more if you want to take off like a bullet. They use this system for drag racing right? No big bottom end loss I noticed with my Tsukigi full system. I was worried too but I couldn't really tell any definite bottom end loss. Maybe I ride too fast. 3000 rpm and over, I definitely noticed no loss in power.
2. You get a tune and your AFR is better than it was with OEM. OEM mappping with OEM exhaust isn't perfect.
3. You wear ear plugs from now on which you should do anyway even if your exhaust is quiet.
4. Yeah you'll make some noise. Tell you the truth, I can't feel a definite gain in hp by the seat of my pants either. The bike is fast as hell with stock exhaust. Will you feel another 15 hp? Probably not but it adds a little character to the bike.
I already have the Akra slip-ons. I was just wondering if I added the header would I also need a flash?
To be safe, you should have it flashed or a good PC5 map. You might have some lean spots with the stock fueling. I tuned mine with Autotune and I can't tell any big change from any of the three maps I used before that. A custom tune will be smoothest and no guesswork about a safe AFR.
