Cuz most folks are buying the Gen2 these days, I'll bet. I think most of us were still arguing whether a PC3 or PC5 was better almost up to the time the Gen2 came out. By then flashing for the 14 was just getting started. Romans worked out a Gen1 flash before the Gen2 came out.

I still am not exactly clear on if a flash is better for fuel management than a PC5 alone. I know flashing eliminates the need for most of the other modules you might hook up thus saving a lot of money (and some extra weight) but is flashing better than hooking in modules?

I asked that question some time ago and the answers I got lead me to believe it is mainly a money saver. Someone mentioned the response from the ECU was quicker with a flash but I'm not 1000% clear on that. We're talking about electricity here. A few feet of wire shouldn't make much diff as far as I can tell. ...but I'm still working on figuring out how to use my PC5 and Autotune so what do I know?

When I 1st got my 2008 the bottom end was so disappointing that I knew I should have went Busa. Did a little work on the pipes with a right side slip on only and that helped then a TRE and PC5 then adjustable timing plate set at +2 and we are at 176 rwhp. Bottom end woke up and totally different bike. I have since added a full Leo pipe with carbon can but no retune plus put the silencer in just in case I ride it to work and leave at 3:30 am. I was thinking of an Ivan map since all tuners around here are peak hp tune only and Ivan says his is for everyday riding that does not have to be WOT all the time.

I would like to see a G1 flash and use the PC5 for the fine tune. I don't want to pull flies out but would be nice for a flash to tell them to open lots sooner.

Just my opinion

The answer is simple: There is not a lot to gain from flashing the gen 1. All you get is top speed removal and red line raise. Not sure you could get the flies to open sooner but even if you could, the gen 1 is at least 3 years old and most people are already using a TRE or removed the flies. Heck some people are still removing the flies on the gen 2. I think removing the flies is still the way to go!I'm going to steal Hub analogy. If you think of the flies being like a door, air will go faster through a door that is held open versus a door that opens faster/sooner. All you have to do is getting a good map/tune. With good air, I can leave the front wheel from 2500 rpm no problem. I will eventually get a flash to remove the top speed and raise red line about 200 rpm since I'm still building at 11k (178 hp) but it's not a priority. If gen 1 were new, it would make sense but most people have already figured the mods so although you can have it all with the flash, it makes no sense to pay $300 for it.

Oh well it was just wishful thinking and I live on my beemer way more than I do on the 14. Guess I will just add an electric cruise and call it a bike.

I have a gen1, flies in. Romans flashed my ecu, flies open almost immediately. I really don't care about max hp, so I never have checked it, so I don't know if I gained anything or not. But one thing for sure is the power delivery is much smoother and whatever my max hp is I'm getting to that number in far less time.
Cblast also has a flash for the gen1 that I'm sure is flawless as well.
