Loads of people post about tyres when they get a nice new confidence inspiring set of tyres. What I'd like to know here is people's experience of the stock (or otherwise) tyres once they started getting a little worn.
Both my 14 and 14R had the stock Bridgestones, BT016 and S20R respectively. The BT016's at around 4000 kms gave me a few heart stopping moments, both with the front stepping out on me on the turn in to a slow corner, and the rear "skipping" a few times when it got pushed on a tight corner. The S20Rs on the 14R have only done 3500 easy kms and have skipped the rear a few times already on slow corners. Longer corners were better, but neither tyre felt planted. Both sets of tyres were ok(ish) at first, then showed this behavior after they got a LITTLE worn, although they had heaps of wear (up to 50%) left on them. Is everyone seeing the same thing, or am I doing something to force this behavior? Either way, both bikes made me feel that I need softer/stickier tyres that will tolerate being pushed a little harder. Is there a point where you can say for certain, it's the tyres, it's the bike set-up, or my riding is causing it?
