Motor occassionally stalls when clutching in.
05/18/17 8:45 AM

This happens every few days whether the motor is warm or not. This morning it happened after my 30 minute highway ride to work.

Usually it is after clutching in to come to s stop at a light, but sometimes it happens simply while downshifting. I would usually blame the idle adjustment, but it idles at right around a grand and never has issues sitting at idle.

I do have a PC5 and Autotune installed, and am running off Dynojets map that is closest to my configuration (factory pipes, slip-ons, stock air filter). I recently had my ECU flashed but this problem was happening before that. The flash was from Schnitz Racing and reportedly did the following;

* Increased Rev Limiter to 11,500RPM (+500rpm from stock)
• Top Speed Limiter Removed
• Gear Based Fuel Trims Removed from Gears 1-3
• Secondary Throttle Blades Open More Aggressively And Stay Open

Any suggestions? Thinking maybe adjusting my trims at a certain RPM and gear range to stop this from happening?

Run zeros (0) in the first two columns in the pc maps... any pc map.

I think I have those set like that, but it's been awhile since I've looked at the AFR settings so I will make sure later today.

Run zeros (0) in the first two columns in the pc maps... any pc map.

Definitely all 0s in the 0% TP column because that is idle and the bike should be allowed to adjust it's own fueling at idle, especially start up. I tune my 2% column from 1500 to 3000 rpm because the bike can and often does run at those rpm/TP. I have never tried entering 0s for 2% but that could be the solution to my 1/4 second dead zone when I open the throttle very slightly at extra low rpm.

I think I have those set like that, but it's been awhile since I've looked at the AFR settings so I will make sure later today.

You will see the AFR go crazy at idle if you start the bike with PCV mapping for 0% throttle. I'm sure you will if you also have Autotune running at start up with a target AFR for 0% throttle.

....but this does not sound like a cold starting problem. What is Min/Max trims set at in Autotune? Large trims could do it if you have a target AFR in the 0% TP column.

I did hear my motor almost stall at idle because it was fighting the PCV and possibly the Autotune at start up. Also saw the AFR climb up to 17 while it adjusted between the ECU and the DJ electronics. I don't remember if I had Autotune immediately enabled or set a two minute delay but I decided after that to just zero out the target AFR and fuel table at 0% TP.

It is also possible that your clutch lever sensor switch is bad. The thing that won't let the engine run in gear without the clutch being pulled.

Well I had the lower RPM rows zeroed out, but not the first 2 throttle percentage columns.

I zeroed them out and adjusted my warm idle up to about 10.5. Hasn't happened again, though I've only road it twice since doing this.

I think I have my trim adjustments set pretty low as well.

Thanks for the advice guys, I hope I have this one fixed!

I'm crossing my fingers for you. Hope that's all it was. I have my 2% collumn tuned all the way from 1250 to 3500. Also the 0% column from 1250 to 1750. I have Autotune set to enable after 2 minutes so no closed loop adjustments happen while the bike warms up.

The base map has all zeros in the 0% column. His 2% column is tuned though.

I think I have my trim adjustments set pretty low as well.

I believe I have mine at +/-15%
