You definately have it right bro. I have tried to explain the feeling to people who do not ride, but they just don't understand. Whether it be on the zzr, or the M109, there is a feeling of pure freedom, excitement, joy, and tranquility. On one hand, I truly hate it took me so long to get there (started riding at age 40), but then again, if I had been riding in my 20's, I would probably not be here to write this. Thank God for good judgement, wisdom, and mercy. Ride on fellas.

Right on!
It's something you have or you don't, and there's no explaining it to those that don't get it.

Me too Neil, me too!

True blacklightning, they don't. For most people we are Sons of Anarchy or Hell’s Angels out riding around, lol

C, I gave up long time ago trying to explain it.
Pretty much sums up the ride to work this morning. And I get to hop on again for the way home... bliss.
You are a lucky man tooncinator, I wish I could ride my bike to work during the week.

I was riding The Talimena a couple of years ago, where a friend of mine was killed. Uncharacteristically, I took my eyes off the road and looked upward at the bigger picture, the panorama, the overall vista. My spirit soared and I felt as if I would be lifted off the seat and whisked up into the clouds. Since then, I have made an effort not to let myself go like that, to pay attention to what's in front of me, but to never forget what's going on around....and above.
Kevin's tree:
Up on top of The Talimena
The final curve
The bike was restored here, raffled off and the proceeds went to the widow and children
The bike as it looks today, taken a few weeks ago in Pennsylvania
So to me, this is the essence; ride with your friends and take in all you can while you can, because someday you won't be able to.

Danno, I remember reading the thread you posted last year about the accident. It was quite touching to see the picture of the plaque that was placed in his memory on the tree he hit. Thanks for sharing!

I used to work 10 minutes from home. I'd take the car in the morning, but I'd leave 45 minutes early and take the country roads. Then for lunch I'd go home and get the bike. Rip around for 30 min. then back to work. I'd have a grin on my face every time. Then the ride home. The car is a blast and makes me smile, but the bike puts an ear to ear grin on my face. If only I had the kind of roads you guys ride around here.

I can't get enough of the way the bike eats asphalt...
Just love the ride, it's more than escapism, escapism hints at a non-reality. What we find on that ride is more real, not less...

I'm pretty sure the brain produces the same chemicals that create a state of euphoria as when you have sex.
That combination of excitement and tranquility. Adrenalin and seratonin.
It's no freakin wonder the decision between the two is not an easy one. lmfao

Roads up here are straight and to get to the twisties one has to drive north to procure some knee dragging fun! But I emphasize, around here on my stead I feel like the king of my urban jungle. Atop my 14r I am stoic and magisterial. I not only own the road, but I dominate them.
Here is to all of us that run home during our lunch break to ride our motorcycles. I know I take the bike to work and take off at lunch to enjoy my break while astride my chariot!

Let's remember too, for some of us the motorcycle is a way of life, an ethic, a set of distinguishing values that completes us. The bike is an expression of the mark we wish to leave on life and thus, it is married to our molten character, forged in lava! The 14r we drive is just the weapon of our choice, and really we are all bound by the same love for her, the ride and the road!
Never do we look back!

KHI needs to ring up the Nation bout a couple things! :))
It's about the sweet with the salty but none of the bitter. Often in life...
'All of the old sonnets ring with truth and despair when you consider one that you have loved and love still...for love never dies, it simply loses its sweet kiss, in favor of a bitter thought.'
Difference with Priscilla is she behaves right. No bullshit. No head games, no hidden manipulations in place of straight shootin. The machine lacks the human flaws...
Priscilla is my temple, my shrine, my muse, my inspiration and my lover...
