Ivan's Flash and PCV mapping
05/07/13 10:55 PM

All can say just now...is OMG!THIS is what the 14R should feel like out the crate...I can see why it isn't;)BIG BIG KUDOS to Ivan...DEFINITELY knows his chit....just awesome....And I thought the Brock's deal was pretty good.NO comparo IMO.This thing here is well beyond my Brock's flash...and mapping. Thanks Ivan!

PLEASE don't misunderstand..I'm not slamming Brock or Guhl...I can definitely feel a big difference between the two...Brock's and Ivan's.Both are VERY GOOD...but this one from Ivan is extremely smooth and responsive...in a different way.NO backfires either...I tried. She wouldn't.My TC got a helluva workout I'll tell ya that. She lofts like she's off and runnin for the next galaxy!I'm totally stoked.I'd have to say this setup is ...well....noticeably more sport riding friendly...I don't know how else to say it.SMOOTH all the way up...shifting...like butter.Power...right there.Cruising...virtually zero vibs.Powering up...virtually zero vibs...it actually IS smoother than the factory delivered bike.Idle....perfect.I know...it sounds too good to be true....but it is.Just amazing really.

...sound is...not so good.the ride?AWESOME!!!:)

Next test....top speed run.;)No limiter...RPM limiter...raised 500 RPM's.

2012 SE comes with flames. 2013 with ABS comes in green with no flames.

In what country? ?? Not in the USA. And I thought he lives in the us?? The 2013 colors are white, red, and black with green accents. There is no green 14r except in 2012.

Grn14: Assuming your rev limiter is now at 11,100 RPM I checked the top speed in 6th gear on gearingcommander.com

Stock gearing is 203 MPH at 11,100 RPM. With a 41T rear sprocket instead of the stock 42T top speed is 208 MPH and with a 40T top speed is 213 MPH. I dont know how much horsepower it takes to reach those speeds but if you can hit 200 MPH with stock or any other gearing combo it will be awesome !!!!

I just got mine back from Guhl...and it is much smoother than before and I agree this is the way it should come out of the factory crate!!

My question for you is......How can you tell the difference in performance from Ivan or Guhl Flash? If everything is soooo smooth and this thing makes so much power what differences are you finding in your flash?

I too want the best ECU Flash......but what I really want to know is which one is best...and how far behind the best is the other guy?

Nice video..

What city and state is this road located....we don't have anything like it here in Florida......your video made me want to go out and ride immediately!

RE: Ivan's Flash and PCV mapping

She's a 2013 ABS...Brock's CT went bye bye in the wreck. The 2013 ABS is the SE from 2012.Same colors...minus the flames.

The rpm limiter has been raised 500 rpms.I didn't have a chance to actually 'see' the tach...I never did open her up all the way.Not yet anyhow.

The difference between Brock's and Ivan's and how can I tell? That's good question there. They both are designed for power output...how that comes on and acts....I can feel a difference.I CANNOT say ANYTHING about the latest Brock's Guhl flash/mapping.I can only go by my comparing my 2012(got 10K outta her)and this new one."Which is best"....????IMO....with MY bike....as it is now...stock except for the slip-ons...the Ivan setup is 'better' for what I would want in a sport bike.Fuel mileage is better.Cruise feels smoother.Throttle feels smoother...and stronger. She's running cooler.Shifting feels smoother. Not that the Brock's wasn't 'most' of these things....but the Ivan's feels more dialed in for the average rider that wants (much)better driveability. In all areas.Hard to say how it feels...I don't want to offend anyone...but the Ivan's is...well....more refined and stronger feeling. The bottom low end pull is spinning the rear till the TC in '1' mode stops it....much more than Brock's...so...IDK....It lofts MUCH quicker than the Brock's deal allowed it.I haven't gone out yet and really got on her...so it's hard to say really.I'm VERY satisfied with this setup...moreso than I was with my earlier Brock's setup. It really IS smoother than the factory....my Brock's wasn't...not like this.

First of all street racer dont be a tough guy on the internet, you look like an ass. On their site it only shows the other colors. And I have been to my 2 local kawi dealers and have never seen a green one, so I was JUST ASKING. And anytime you want to be an asshole and call me out about asking a simple question we can compare are over all knowledge of motorcycles. And we'll see who the fools is. Deal??

I have Brock Dual CT Titanium pipes, his PC with his maps, BMC Race filter, and Guhl ECU flashing.....I don't think I would want any more power! This thing is now just awesome, and can't believe a bike can pull this hard and smoothly!! Very impressive........can't surmise Kawasaki could make a larger cc engine for this bike in the future....I think they have it made with this rig as it is.....

If they would make those large heavy pipes go away....that would be a big improvement right there...don't know why they can't have their stock maps emulate Guhl or Ivan out of the box......if they could just ship a 14r with those two mods....wow I think sales would just go thru the roof!

Have had mine now about 14 months and it is very tricked out...but this Guhl flash I just had done is just unbelievable....so was wondering what Ivan's does that my Guhl won't do??

Hey Grn... Nice ride, glad you are happy with your new flash. I cant stand the thought of reflashing after paying $350 ish...LOL But I have to ask... How much did you pay for Ivan's flash?

Are you running risers? If so, what and how do you like them... I keep kicking them around but don't know if I need them. I like my position but my longest ride so far has only been about 3 hours and I am getting ready to ride 10 hours in a few more weeks ;)

ZX14Racer -- The all green is in the US. They are sort of rare tho. I talked to my local dealer and the skinny is that Kawasaki make more plastic than they really needed so instead of just losing money on the plastics they slapped it on on the 2013's and POOF green 2013's. I love my blue 2012 but if I hadnt done everything that I have to it, and I wouldn't take a loss, I would try to trade in on the green ABS... but, Oh well. C'est la vie.

@Goldwingman...I honestly can't say exactly what the Ivan's flash opposed to the Guhl flash might be...it is 2013...both those guys have had a lot more time now to refine their products...I really can't say.It beats my 2012 Guhl flash...got it in I think last March or so...so the flashing thing was pretty new.I'm much happier with the Ivan's as she is now.But as I said...I haven't ridden a 2013 Guhl flashed bike...so.....sorry...you can call Ivan I suppose?...they pretty much all do the same deal...these guys that flash...but the subtle things like mapping...I think that makes a BIG difference in the final package...

I temporarily used a 2012(brand new)ECU before I got this back. From my wrecked baby.I will say...this Ivan's ECU deal has that factory smoothness beat.Easy to feel.I did not have the PCV hooked up yet when I went riding with the 2012 ECU...motor ran fine as far as I could tell....but it wasn't enabled for the ABS...so...it coded...I didn't want to possibly damage the electrics on my new bike...it wasn't working in all the functions...so...I parked her till this new ECU came back.Quite a difference in rideability. The very bottom end is smooth as glass...no weird lurching or anything...and there is ZERO backfire in any rpm/gear combo on decel. This map and all is definitely dialed in.

As far as price...I don't want to dis Ivan...he suggests anyone interested call him.It was reasonable. In line with the others.

Thank you omega that's all I was asking and it makes sense. Because in the beginning there was no green for 2013. But that makes sense if they had extra I guess.

I think most likely Kawasaki realized through their sales that the Green 2012'as were very desirable...so they went on with the colors in 2013...and added the ABS because guys really wanted this feature...and it IS a very good upgrade...VERY.I bought the 2012 flame marks.Have the lower flames installed...kinda gives the midfairing a bit of nuance extending into the black belly fairing...instead of an abrupt color change. They are tricky to get on there....but doable..

Yes...there weren't any Green ones at first in 2013...they added that a few months after releasing the 2013 models.I was surprised when my dealer called me at first and said..."there are no white ABS models....but there's this Green one...like you had with ABS"..I looked on the site...it hadn't been added yet to the 'lineup'...then,the next day...I went back on there again...there it was;)

Hey grn one other thing. Can u really compare the brocks flash to the ivans flash? They are on two different bikes. Hell your first bike had a full brocks system and I can tell you because a have the ct single on mine and its NO where near as smooth as stock. And your new bike just has slip on exhaust. So really you cant give us a real comparison. Hell no two bikes feel identical. One could have a loose bolt some where and feel different. Im just saying to different bikes, 2 different years and one with full exhaust and one not. Very very hard to compare with just your memory also. The ONLY YWAY to truly compare them is remove your ivans now and throw on a brocks and ride that for awhile. Now that's a true comparsion.

And dont get me wrong if I could do it again I would probably go with a full ivan system. It's seems it MIGHT be better for the road warriors like myself. Instead of the drag boys who ride them a quarter mile at a time for 200 miles a year!!!

Well...your thinking is right...however...you said it yourself...your Ct Single system wasn't as smooth.Same here....it wasn't.My 2012 had the full single system. It was (much)more buzzy and the shifting wasn't near as slick as this one. There's a reason for that...which I can't say here.I don't drag race...I ride like you and the rest here(most)...this deal now is extremely satisfying to me.My bike feels like it shed 100 lbs....it is sharp and responsive all the way up and down.It feels way more comfortable in 3rd,2nd,4th....those lower gears...and 'cruising' in those.Honestly...the buzzing is gone.1st gear is smooth as can be...just great.Any gear really...it's transformed that much.If it hadn't I would say so...and I'd be on the phone talking to Ivan.(which I just did)....he's VERY approachable and honest with his answers. My bike now really does feel like it's a built sportbike...though I really don't know what that feels like...but this thing rocks now;)Like it took a shot of adrenaline and librium!

I have not opened her up wide open...she's 'kinda' scarey now...not in a bad way...but there's a lot there left I haven't entered yet;)
I could tell on my last ride that the limits could easily be passed as she is now...dangerously so I mean.I don't want a repeat of last September;)The new Dunlops held great....no issues there.

Cool. I wonder if I keep my ct single but got an ivans pc5 map for it (if he has one) and got a ivans flash would I really feel the difference. My flies are already gone and im not putting them back in for sure. And I also have gearing done but I love that too much to change back. So on my bike I think with what I have it still wouldn't be that smooth. Dont want to spend 400 to find out either.

GRN14: Just checked Ivans site and he says "good mileage" and "noticeably cooler running". Have you noticed these improvements? That would really be the icing on the cake. I think I will have to get his reflash. It sounds amazing.

Yes Street...she is cooler.Mileage I will say...I'm very often pulling in the mid 40's.Throttling up...it goes bye bye...but nice 5th,6th gear cruise with steady input....50MPG and a tad higher...not sustained mind you...but long enough to make a difference yes.PLENTY of those 40 numbers...as opposed to my 35 before.I'm pleased with it...wasn't really trying to get anything with mileage.

I really think you'll be excited every time you ride with this Ivan's thing.Mine is running like a whole new animal....I'm way happy.Flies in as well;)Low speed drive...superb.NO backfiring either. The thrust that's there now...for rolling on for passing and carving...really nice.Running in all gears...smooth as can be.I've stayed in 3rd and 4th on several occasions now for extended times....she really runs great;)The shifting is VERY VERY snickety now....w/or without clutching. No problem clutchless downshifts all the way into first(like for slowing and traffic).Get that throttle input timed right...she clicks right in.

It isn't gonna turn your bike into a turbo...but I'll tell ya....it IS a very noticeable performance mod that is spot on as far as I can tell. You WILL think your bike just ate her wheaties!;)

I had the Brock/Guhl on my 2012...this is much more pleasing to me.They are different....very.
