What do you think of this bike for sale?
06/06/13 7:03 PM

what do you guys think of this bike for sale on eBay? I don't yet own a zx-14 but I've been looking around for a used one and don't want to spend a lot of $$$. The bike has some nice extras.

Up for sale my 2007 zx14 240 kit chrome wheels and swingarm,10"streched,lowered,new tires and sprockets, double bubble windshield, smoke taillights ,ignition retarder,16-44 sprockets.

Mileage: 20,500

Asking price is $9300 which is high for the mileage. The 240 kit and swing arm are 9 months old, tires are fresh, plastic looks good, recently serviced. It also has a full exhaust (Yosh I think) but no power commander.

Thoughts???

Thanks!

an 07 14 with 20,000 miles on it is not going to sell for a lot more than $3000. Personally, I would not pay that much unless the miles were under 10,000.

As for mods, if you really want the exact mods that are for sale HALF. Half price if they are in good condition. Yoiu are saving the guy the work of demodding and making individual sales deals. Used mods don't sell for more than half price.

I don't know the value of a 240 and stretch but I'm thinking this thing should go for $5k ~ 6K.

Also, be VERY careful about Ebay. I nearly got screwed into buying aftermarket fairings that were being sold as OEM. I would not trust any private sales on Ebay. ...ever again.

I'm nervous about it too, how are the engines in the zx-14 at 20k miles? Is there much life left in them? Of course this depends a great deal on how they have been treated

You can get an almost new 14 for that money !!!!!

IMHO. the mods make the bike worth less!! Uniess you
plan on doing serious drag racing. Strech and lower and a
fat tire is a Complete waste of a
decent handling bike! again only my opinion
The only mods that I care about is a pipe or full system
bonus would be a PC and a double bubble
As far as eBay ..I have bought 5 bikes and
a couple of cars with no trouble!! As long as the
seller has 100% positive feedback ,Si long as the transaction takes
place through ebay you are protected against fraud. Make sure you
ask questions through ebsy .. tires, oil or coolant leaks etc ask everything and anything
also it is worth the 50-75 bucks to hire a mechanic to do a full inspection.. including
a compressiion test...If a seller ever refuse or is unavailable
walk away

Good stuff!!

You're right about the price being close to new. There's a dealer in Rockingham NC with a new 2012 with zero miles for $11,500.
The problem is that due to some weird franchising restriction the buyer has to go there in person to make the deal. I'm in CA so that's a bit tough.

There's a 2011 zx-14 for sale with 10k miles from a dealer in TX but he's asking about $9k. It has slip-ons so maybe...

I gave $6250 for my '07 2 years ago and it had a lot of things already done I would have had to do: bar kit, SS hydraulic lines, Galfer rotors, PCIII, ATRE and Speedohealer, aftermarket seat and some other things I was able to sell or trade. I doubt if you'll find one for $3K in decent shape, but that price is way high even if you are into the fatback stretch thing.

I bought ny 14 on eBay last month It took 8 months to fund the right bike at a fair price!
I was willing to pay $8500 for any low mile 14 08-13, I think I had a bid on every 14 on eBay
I wanted that one in Texsas and almost raised ny bid!! If I had the cash I would have paid it !!but then another 14 popped up on eBay
a MINT black 2011 , with 1800 miles ,xtras included
sbk exhaust, bar risers double bubble and
a tail tidy kit!
I had my $8500 bid in early...I ended
up getting the bike for $7900 plus
needless to say I am very happy ! the cash I saved being patient
went to shipping cost ,sales tax ,a new helmet and
summer riding gear !! and I still have monry in the new bike bugdet
for, gas and hoteles :)

A new 2012 for $11,5 or a used bike for $10? Man that's a no brainer all day! Hell if it's a green one I may just take a trip myself...

If it's money. Got cash but still want to ride? Buy my 2009 Aprilia for 7k. You look up two used bike prices you come up with two different numbers. I have mine in the middle of both ranges. You sell the few parts I have, you end up buying the bike for 6 and change. Has less than 5k on it. Handles like a dream. Faster than most duc's. Trans is way better than the 14's. I'll throw in the tires I bought for down the road. Well maintained. Built in from the factory is a trackday lap timer. Tells you if your winker is not working and which side front or rear? Very advanced electronics. Can deliver.

how are the engines in the zx-14 at 20k miles?

usually, like brand new only stronger. I have 40K on my 14 and I don't feel it is any less capable than my busa that has 10K. I've heard of 14s with 90K-100K miles. If it was going to be one of the few that blows up it will do it before 30 thousand miles.

.I have bought 5 bikes and
a couple of cars with no trouble!! As long as the
seller has 100% positive feedback ,Si long as the transaction takes
place through ebay you are protected against fraud.

The ballwasher that tried to unload his crappy Auctmart fairings on me had a 100% approval rating. I imagine I would have had a leg to stand on if i wanted to complain but I wouldn't want to go through the hassle. If a seller doesn't make you feel comfortable, I don't think it's worth the risk.

Splurg and get new...I did, and not looking back.

That's what I would do. Keep looking and do some research as to what mods you want and what your purpose in modding is. If you're not really up on modding, I would wait to see if a stretch is really what you want. I have no use for the extra weight. I don't care for the look and the bike will not turn as well. The 240 tire has no performance benefit whatsoever. That would be a huge handicap if you got into dragracing. Come to think of it, the swingarm for a 240 prolly will not work for a normal tire so you will spend money to demod this thing if you are not into the huge ass rear tire bling look.

If you are into sport riding you need an aftermarket exhaust (I recommend full system).
Power Commander or Bazzaz for full system exhaust.
that's it. Other stuff is to be determined.
Suspension upgrade is nice and lightweight wheels a big plus. cha-ching!

That seem high for the mileage unless you really want the extras.
In Alberta zx 14 are going for $6500- $8500 with half the mileage and some extras
I pick up my 2008 two years ago, for $6200 with 11000 km with extras.
