My free bandwidth on photobucket is maxed out and now they want me to start paying $30/year to share pics. ok. Bigger problem: all of the pics I have posted previously are blocked. POOF, gone.

I did a search for free online photo sharing but everything seems to be a bait and switch deal wher they will start to charge for the service.

There must be some way to share photos online for free. Anyone know how?

I have all the pics on my computer alraedy. What i need is a site to hist them for free. If I start a new account, I'll have to load each and every pic from my computer all over and edit the new url into my how tos. As far as other pics I posted in threads started by others, I would never be able to track those down. There just gone.

Bopropucope was wondering where the pics were on the PAIR removal/blockoff plates tutorial.. I finally used up all that free use of Photobucket. The frequent reorganizing of my albums meant updating the urls on my tutorials + I post pics all over this site. The free hosting of Photobucket dried up. My fault, I have been getting email warnings for the last couple years from Photobucket. It was getting monotonous so I just tossed the emails along with all the other junk I get. My bad. oops.

I think what I am going to do is just start all over. I'll get a Gmail account and try to get a new free Photobucket account.

Also, I have looked into making pdf files that I could link to but that also costs $$ because you need to buy Adobe Acrobat.

Bill Gordon who is the owner of this site has offered to pay the $30 fee for me. WHat a guy! Really though--I think he does enough already, keeping our forum up. This site is a big part of my life so I could easily cough up the $30. Dollars are hard to come by here in the Rook home but $30/year is not such a big deal, even for me. Heck, I'm scheming how I might swing that Ohlins suspension so I should be able to spend a measly $30. Or if I'm that cheap (which I am), just get a new account.

I just saved a ton of $$$ because badnco suggested that my clutch problem was caused by a bad clutch lever and not worn out clutch plates. I'll just pay the $30. I should get Acrobat and make pdfs so the tutorials will be in cyberspace for ever.

fter doing a little digging into what bandwidth is, I found that it is the amount of pics stored, the size of the images and the # of views the pics get/month.

Every month the free bandwidth usage returns to 0.

Photobucket:
If you do reach the bandwidth cap for the free account, your linked out photos will be replaced by the above Photobucket image that states "this image exceeds bandwidth". To have this removed you will need to upgrade to a Plus subscription, or wait for your bandwidth to reset for the month. Your bandwidth will reset to zero every month on the day you registered your account. You can find this date in your User Settings, under the Account tab.

If you upgrade to a Plus account, you will no longer have to worry about the bandwidth exceeded message, as all Plus accounts have unlimited bandwidth. Upgrading your account to a Plus account will only remove that message from photos that are linked out from your upgraded account. It will not remove the bandwidth exceeded message from images that are linked out from another users account.

Having users return to the site to view your photos through direct links does not use any bandwidth. Bandwidth is only used when the image is embedded on another site to be viewed.

so, Bopropucope might have broke the bank on this one!

Here's what I'll do. I'll resize the pics and update the tutorials a little at a time. Maybe start a Dropbox account and transferr all my busa pics over there. Free up as much bandwidth as possible. Hopefully there will be enough bandwidth to go around each month.

I have two Botophucket accounts on different E-mails. One wouldn't upload any more pics, so I deleted a bunch I didn't really want to save there (also have then on the computer and SD cards). Still would not allow further uploading, so I sent them an E-mail asking what the problem was. The replier acted surprised and said deleting pictures should add back uploading capacity. I've only uploaded a couple since then. Botophucket is the slowest, most constipated website I've ever been on and a total PITA to use.

I suspect the Photobucket site detects the IP address of the computer you are using as well as the email you provide. Photobucket might automatically deny use of two accounts from the same computer ...but that would be a problem for people who upload from a machine that is used publicly such as a library computer or a work computer or a family computer or a friend's computer.. if those computers already were used to register for a Photobucket account. Seems too limited. I doubt if they would restrict each computer to one account. I can see why they would want to restrict individuals from creating more than one free account, though. There should be something about such a restriction in the terms of use....but who reads all of that?

haha, THANKS, Caroobs! $30/year isn't that much for me to pony up. The month is just about to turn and the pics will be back when the my date of registering with PB comes around. If the disappearing act becomes a repeating problem, I'll just pay the $30 myself. As mentioned, I save a lot of money buy getting info on the site so $30 aint nuthin.
