Noticed something
10/01/16 6:32 PM

Hey Guys,
My 2016 is parked in a shed and I use a ramp to put it in and take it out. The shed door is only about 4 inches off the ground. The ramp I bought is 6ft long so it makes it easy in and out of shed.
I have noticed when backing the bike down the ramp and using the front brake, the fork extends obviously and I can hear a sort of noise....only happens when doing this. Anyone else noticed this?
Just wondering....only have 850 km's on bike....

Is it brake pads? Pads angle forward/inward under forward braking; backward/inward under reverse braking. They bind a tiny bit on the pins is all and it makes a noise. When you go back to riding the bike forward, they tilt in to their normal position.

Or is it stiction in the forks? Might try removing and reinstalling the front wheel. Make sure you bounce the forks to center the axle as/service manual/my tutorial.

...or are forks not installed to the same height. Close visual inspection of top triple clamps will tell.

What Rook said in the first paragraph... that's my guess. Pads shifting in the opposite clearance gap. If it was a suspension problem, it would top out [knock] under acceleration. Your 2016 has its first steering bearing repacking @ 7,500 miles. This is when you setup the sliding [one] fork so the axle is square to the other fork. Either the axle and collar slide easily side to side, or the threads start easy with this static leveling and the one fork is the threaded only side. In other words, the axle hand spins once you jack the one fork up and down to find that [static] sweet spot.

what kind of noise are we talking here? A click, a squeel?

Hello
Not a squeal or click, Kind of like a knock. Am wondering if it is like you said about the brakes.
Have not felt or heard while driving normally...gonna keep and eye on it.

The pads make a click, I think. maybe it's the forks topping out. That would be amazing if it was just from rolling down a ramp...unless you have the preload very high..and maybe very low rebound.

I wondered if it was the forks topping out. Preload is not set very high, and rebound is set to "standard" settings. Actually all suspension settings are at "standard". I want to get a feel for the bike around various roads before adjusting it. Plus to let the suspension settle in. Only have 800Km's on it now. That is about 550 miles. I have not other issues. Don't forget too that it is an SE which have Brembo brakes...and I have to say they work VERY WELL!!!

I have noticed when backing the bike down the ramp and using the front brake...I can hear a sort of noise.

The noise could be the semi-floating front brake discs.

Hey guys thanks for all the suggestions. As it turns out it is the front rotors doing that.
Got home today and had a good look. I can almost duplicate it just by moving the rotors by
trying to turn them with out the wheel moving.
Just hit 1,000 km's today....oil and filter tomorrow!!!!
Thanks again!!!

If you have semi-floating rotors on the 14R, that's it. My CZ's are semi-floating too and they make noise when pushing the bike as well as heavy braking.

Well, The bike is an SE version with Brembo monobloc calipers and semi floating discs. With factory steel braided lines at the front and clutch.
Previous bike had what were considered to be semi floating also. Different design I guess, I replaced the lines on that bike with HEL braided lines. Never heard that noise, but anyway....
I will say that the brakes on the 14R are quite fantastic!!! Considering the power output and speed potential...I would say it needs damn good brakes!
