popped a fan fuse
02/10/14 8:42 AM

popped a fan fuse and i see no reason why, should I worry? 45 degrees outside coming home from a 5 hour ride and after being on the streets for 40 mins off the highways I noticed it was running 6 bars and when I got home and removed the helmet no fan on. thats when the flashing warning came on and i start looking and find a blown fan cooling fuse blown. I replaced it and it kicked on and i let it run a while to cool off 2 bars then killed it. this mornings ride in is in the high 30s and it ran normal temps. what would cause a fan fuse to pop? motor going? 2007 50000 miles

Peace and Love Ron

See if you can move the fan blade? If you had a direct short, pop goes the fuse. Your short ride may not have set the fan to go on, pop the fuse again, in other words.

1. So the short goes something like... My fan may cause the pop.
2. I disconnect the fan, watch the next route down the wire, it was not the fan, she pops again.
3. Now, do I have a phantom wire that has to touch before it shorts? Is my phantom bump related?
4. Did I have a faulty fuse blow in the center or off to the side as in a crack and a spark or arc separated enough to stop flow?
5. I want key on, feel fuse after fuse so the fan fuse is hot, but not enough to blow it. This means current draw somewhere down the path.
