GrnMeister, how's your recovery, haven't heard anything in some time. I remember you saying something about going back to work on December 1 or thereabouts.
Also what's the status on that new 14R you ordered?

Yup...Dec 1st...I'm pretty much fully healed up...thanks Kruz. The bike?IDK....I haven't been worrying about it....probably end of this month or Dec sometime...there's really no rush...Winter's starting to set in...some snow...lots of 28 degree nights.
You ditched the F3?Well...probably a good move...you don't want to spend that kind of cash on a problematic deal. They'll get er sorted...thanks for asking about me....NO..you will NOT get a Harley...NO....

GrnMeister, glad to hear you are healing up and ready to get that new 14R. Heck, I'd go ahead and bring her home for Christmas, tie a big red ribbon around that bad boy, string some Christmas lights around it and park it in the living room for the winter. You can start doing your mods in there where it's warm, would do wonders for your holiday spirits! You know you're gonna have to at least do slipons and a fender eliminator, if not we'll have to revoke your Man Card....lol! BTW, Montana Highway Patrol says they're getting pretty bored without having you out on the highways to chase!
Yea, F3 is dead in the water for me, from what I'm hearing and reading the bike is pretty hopeless, the final insult will be when the new Ninja 636 kicks it's butt all the way back to Lake Varese where it was hatched.
Don't know what I want, nothing striking my fancy right now. HP4 looks good on paper but entry price is 20 large and where is the BMW's race results? They couldn't buy a top 10 finish in the IOM TT this year. The top TT racers are running Jap bikes and avoiding the Beemer in droves... and they can have any bike they choose. IDK, must be a reason, just thinking out loud here.

"the final insult will be when the new Ninja 636 kicks it's butt all the way back to Lake Varese where it was hatched"....OUCH!You cruel cruel motorcyclist you..
"You know you're gonna have to at least do slipons and a fender eliminator, if not we'll have to revoke your Man Card....lol!" ....I have a set of CS1's here...brand new...I can't find a midpipe for em....they're very good looking...would go with the Ninja nicely.Thinkin about cutting the factory midpipe off the stock cans..(already did one to see if the diameters would match up)...they did.But I'd have to take it and get it welded.I COULD do that...I might.Hate to have those Cans sitting here not being used.Black ceramic with Chrome tips...hexagon shape...very nice actually.
Have a Bestem Hugger comin....had to have that..I hate cleaning under there...around that shock.
BTW...Dragking's got a present for ya...did you see it?

"No what present?"...it's close by....around here.Maybe a different thread?
Hugger got here...excellent shape. You gonna get that Beemer? The 1KRR?IDK...that 10R ya have sounds like a sweet bike....someday...I'll have to ride a 10R...or a 1000....whatever.Just so I know WHAT you guys are talkin about.I'm totally spoiled with the 14's.Heavy?yeah...I suppose...but I'm used to it now.I don't Dragon Run anyway...the days of triple digit cornering are pretty much out for me...I mean...I won't stop totally...but....just to see how fast I can get through a curve...nah....my 14R was amazingly fun at 65-95 mph....it really was.
So why would I want a bike like the 14?With what it has to offer? The ride.....pretty much that's it...the ride.Never had a bike that was so smooth and reliable....

Grn, sounds like the 14R is the bike for you. I think you would be sorely disappointed with a literbike. Yea they're fast but they don't have the torque of a 14. They get their speed from turning a lot of rpm, kind of hard to explain it, you just need to ride one to experience it. Where you would really like it is in the cornering, they're just so easy to pitch 'em over on their ear. Comfort wise there is no comparison, 14s are like riding on a LazyBoy recliner, a liter can beat the crap outts you on a long ride.
OK, I'm gonna try and find that thread now you were talking about.

Swisher Sweet? Grn, don't ever admit that, I'd never stoop that low...lol!I buy Flor de Oliva seconds, a decent stick at about half price, they taste the same as the more expensive cigars but you get an occasional runner.
Davidoffs run about $25 a stick, special occassion stuff for me.

Yeah Green a liter would probably not turn you on right off the bat. As Kruz said, it's all about getting those bikes in the power band and KEEPING them there while doing some spirited riding. Of course they are awfully powerful in that range and the handling is a real kick. I never understand the folks on the BMW forums that keep opening threads about "sport touring" on the S1000RR. I mean you can tour on anything but the question is why would you?? You kind of find yourself bonding with the liter after you get it to where it does it's thing. No real comparison to the torque in all gears at all speeds of the 14 or the extreme comfort.

Yep, literbikes make sense only when the road gets curvy, then they are a thrill a second, hit the freeway or traffic and they are literally painful.... to the wrists, neck, shoulders and lower back, way too much weight on the upper body at low speed. A set of HeliRisers and lower pegs will fix some of that but why? A 14 or Busa makes way more sense to me for doing long distance and they are plenty competent for the faster corners.
Jagmeister, looking forward to the ride on Sunday but not sure about the GoPro, we don't have the 180 mph roads these guys like to see, you'll prolly end up with 2/3 the ride on the editing room floor, maybe some of the twisty bits will be entertaining.

We'll need to make a run sometime over to that BMW store so I can see the HP4 up close. Before I commit to a $20K obligation though I need to see what happens to my company after the first of the year. We've been in receivership since April '08 and time is running out if we don't find some investor capital.

"we don't have the 180 mph roads these guys like to see"....not expecting the IOM;)...just some fun ridin yer bikes and rollin...Not any of that happening here now....
Laying aside the F3...what OTHER literbike gets ya?..or any bike. The Duc's are pretty famous...and sell really well....how bout a nice 999 or somethin?
I don't have the energy to put into a literbike...having to hit those curves really fast and all...the ninja is so big....you can't force it to rail like those literbikes...it just won't...so it 'kinda' keeps me in check...kinda.But she's still great for the big sweepers and such...and those in between straights...yup....hell...I aint a pro....straights and some sweet curves...that's okay with me....plenty of wide open turns here...and not so much traffic really.Just right for a 14...or smaller...but I rarely see any literbikes out when I'm riding...that is strange IMO...these curves and all would be excellent for a fast literbike with a good pilot. They like to stay in town...pulling wheelies and doing 3 times the speed limits. Not me...I like gettin out and goin. All day rides usually.Several hundred miles easily.I need a comfortable bike like the 14.

Sounds kinda crazy Grn but I keep going back and looking at that Ducati 848 Evo Dark, that thing looks sinister. Downside besides infamous Ducati reliability? IDK, I want something really different this time and something that would make me look back over my shoulder and take a long look. 999 was never my favorite Ducati and I can't do the dry clutch thing, sounds like they're ready to blow up any second....lol! I won't even begin to get serious until well into '13, just too much uncertainty right now.
Happy Thanksgiving!
