If there is a lot of valve noise the most likely culprit is the cam chain tensioner. Most put a APE manual one on.

If it goes away in 20 seconds or less, that's the CCT. It causes no problem. You can replace it with an APE and it should be good for quiet starts the life of the bike. You might need to do the easy adjustment on the APE once every several years if the noise comes back. I've had mine about 4 or 5 years without needing to adjust after installing. A lot of people say the bike is a bit ticky at idle but nothing as loud as the CCT on a cold start.
