Are the transmission ratios the same on the Gen1 and Gen2?
Also, on the 14R, does the speedo run off the front or rear wheel?

Trans Q is a lot of work to match numbers from gen to gen, so the quick and dirty is to match main shaft numbers. However, both shafts have different part numbers as well as gears. Gear ratio numbers seem to match, but...
... Gen wise we think in mm changes to X and Y. Where X is bore and Y is stroke between gens. Wider at the trans case by a mm and widen the gear for strength? It's just a guess. So only match gen gears when needed. No advantage gear tooth wise.
Speedo runs off 4 blocks at the sprocket nut. Don't want to damage that nut-block. Where I'll take a guess at 4 means analog. Where one block is faster/sustained/slower is the next block. Where 4 becomes basic binary number and that calc is X or needle position, and probably rear wheel diameter is the Y to match foot to km/mi.

Speedo can't be running off the countershaft. I have geared my bike taller and the speedo reading has matched the percentage increase in gearing. I just wasn't sure which wheel it took the information from. Why would both wheels be involved?

92210-0237 [sprocket nut] from first gen to current model. I have a triangle connector and a square block connector tied together. One says to me, gear sensor, the other the speed sensor or kickstand switch?
I can't find first year speed sensor part number. R shop manual does not have a code for a speed sensor. Can't find the speed sensor on the parts page of the later models either.
Might have to look closer for a 3rd wire harness off the sprocket cover area. Speedo code says if sensor fails, speedo reads 0.
The tone wheels at the rims, say you wheelie and the front wheel slows down. The k-skid will shut down fuel/spark/sub if remembering the press release mentioning 3 interventions where other brands only use 2. If the back wheel spins up, the intervention kicks in. Both tone wheels match speeds, or intervene if match changes.
Speedo reading at that square nut still uses that same 4 side design. Do you remember seeing 2 or 3 harnesses off the sprocket cover area, meaning, wire harnesses for gear sensor/kicker safety switch/speedo sensor?
I might have to add, 'got me?'
