Got a big-boy bike finally
03/29/13 7:58 AM

Hey guys! I bought my new 2011 zx14 back in January and just returned from a spring break trip to PC Beach, Florida. That was my first real ride on the big girl and I must say, omg wow. Two years ago I started on my first bike, a ninja 650 and after 8 months (and 13,000 miles!) I traded her in on a supermodel sexy R1. After a year and about 12,000 miles of relationship building she dumped me going about 90 and to this day I still do not know what happened. After a few months of recovering, I realized that I have the most fun on a bike when I travel with friends and family (my mom and dad both have bikes). These zx-14's ride as smooth as ice, and on those long, flat, Florida roads where I opened her up a bit....nuff said. Glad to be back to my Kawi roots and glad I decided to go with the 14. I'm naming her Sharanda, after a big black girl from high school that used to beat everybody up.

Grats on the big boy bike!

Tonight while polishing the bike I almost had a mishap with the bike falling forward off the kickstand - once the full weight of this beast is coming at you unexpectantly then it really does feel like a big bike... lol

Congrats on the big bike. I rode an 06 R1 too. It was flickable and fun. You have to respect the 14, otherwise it will bite you on the slow manovers. I don't like to admit it, and I'll say it quietly amongst our members, but selecting it as a super sport tourer was a fantastic choice too. Enjoy. As for the bike and it's desire to lunge forward of the side stand, yes sir, first thing I did was invest in a set of stands (front and rear). It feels like a paddok, but you almost need it when working around 600lbs. Night boyz!
