Hi everyone, doing my valves on my 07 zx14, my question is, do I have to replace my valve cover gasket or are they made to be re used? It seems to be in perfect condition, any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Change it now, if it's not leaking yet it soon will be!

A lot of people reuse it. Yes, there is a problem with those things leaking on some bikes. I managed to slow down the leak on mine doing the washer fix explained in the thread below. I would say it is best to replace the gasket and the ringo washers and the spark plug hole gaskets. That's what I will be doing when I check my valve clearance again.

Thanks, I'll just order up some new gaskets. My valve cover gasket doesn't leak at all, but there was some oil residue around my crankshaft sensor cover and my #3 cylinder coil. So I'll just change everything, that way when it leaks I can say "beats the shit out of me why it leaks...I changed everything."

I used the '11 part # cover gasket and some gray silicone engine sealant at the cam journal cutout areas and no leaks on my '07. Also, use new plug well gaskets. All years of those are the same.

Danno, thanks for the info, The part number for the 07 valve cover gasket is obsolete, good to know the 11 gasket works on the 07.
Rook, special thanks to you, I've been using your valve adjustment thread throughout this whole project.

cool, man.
Be super careful when you estimate shim size if you need to adjust the valves.
It is not too hard if you are following the table. I did it mathematically but that is only for the compulsive/obsessed wrenchers like me.
