I got the bike back together and after cleaning/polishing I always wipe the rotors with some brake cleaner.
I shoot a little on a clean paper towel and then hold it against the rotor and spin it a few times. First time the towel usually has a darkish spot and the second time the towel is usually clean and I'm done. The cleaner is supposed to be pretty strong and leaves no residue it says.
I don't know why but after the second wipe I put some spit on the towel and spun the wheel again. This time it came up dirtier(or at least blacker)than the first wipe with brake cleaner. Not sure why spit would remove something the cleaner doesn't but now I'll be spittin' on the rotors before I consider it done. Yeah, water will do.

You could bottle your spit and sell it. I don't think you'd be able to produce a very high volume but you might as well get paid something if you're going to spit all day.

Wouldnt applying a brake cleaner to the disc as the wheel rotates..wheel fully assembled that is...destroy the brake pads...?

I don't put much cleaner on the towel. It amounts to about a 1" spot. Just damp, and it dries fast.
The way I apply it I doubt there's any significant amount contacting the pads but it's probably safer to use some glass cleaner or even something milder.

I have not used one myself but I have a few buddies that swear this thing is a God send. I'll give it a try this season for sure but I damn sure won't be using Acetone things can go bad with that shit quickly. It seems a little over the top IMOP for regular maintance. I have always used green 3m pads with good results. However if the bike is seeing lots of time at the track or even drag strip the brake hone kit might be the way to go.

What are the stock pads....organic or sintered?
And what does sintered mean? Some kind of heat treatment?
