I've never owned anything that uses the quick rivet, so I have no experience with them.
Mine is allowing the 2 fairing halves to separate a bit. It's not real bad and I keep thinking it will stop getting worse but it seems like the gap is getting wider. I had all the bodywork off and inspected the rivet but didn't see anything obviously wrong. The 2 halves go together easily so there isn't much strain going on to pull on the rivet as I thought before. I thought the plastics were "settling" so to speak and defeating the rivet.
Has anyone had the same problem? Did a new rivet fix it or did you find a better fastener? I'm thinking if I can find a bolt with a large dome/crown shape then I can just use a lock-nut on the inside and tighten just past finger tight. I'd wrap a very small piece of rubber tape just around the thread that's in the fairing hole so the bolt threads can't cut or abraid the fairing hole. Then powdercoat the bolt gloss black and I'm done and don't need to wonder about the lowers splitting at speed sometime.
Any suggestions appreciated.
