I finally bought a ZX14
05/18/15 8:31 PM

So, after being without a bike for at least 5 years (other than the wifes zzr600) I bought an old 2007 ZX14. The previous owner had owned it since 2008 and had done a lot of touring on it so it has 86,000km on the clock but he loved the bike and has full service documentation with receipts so I'm not worried. I'm a mechanic by trade so if the motor dies I have an excuse to build something more mental (or update to a gen2 bike). It also has a crack in the upper fairing but for aud $4100 I don't care, I am just over the moon to be able to have a bike that I have admired for so long. It's black, all stock except for a dark tinted screen and it rides fantastically.

If anyone has a full exhaust for a gen1 or any other goodies please pm me.

I only bought it last night and rode it home (1/2 hr) so I can't wait for the weekend to take it on a proper ride. After I get to know her I would like to take her to the drags and see what she can do.

Thanks yannih, I'm not ready yet but I will take you up on it one day. Funnily I nearly bought the 2013 zx14 from Melbourne, its the guy that bought your mufflers off ebay.

Guys, I just noticed my front blinker lenses are different shapes (due to previous owner replacing a side fairing), one sticks out sharply and the other is rounded and protrudes less. Can you guys tell me if they are different year models or something, so I can get a matching round one for the other side.

Sounds like you have one side replaced with an aftermarket flushmount. I'd just get a new set, maybe smoked and put them on.

I've been wanting to do this mod myself. I would take a chance on the Chinese ones because they are so cheap it won't be too big a deal if they stop working. Probably be just fine. There was a thread a while back about the fitment of a Chinese tail light on the 14r. They might get these thing a little off for a while and perfect them after the first lots get sold. By now, they aught to have the Gen 1 14 down petty good.

You should be able to find aftermarket signal lights that are not flushmount too.

Try 58 cycle. That's where I just ordered my smoked signals from. Congrats on your 14

Guys, what's the difference between the Yoshi R55, R77 and TRC? Is there any difference in sound between carbon and stainless mufflers?
