Mat that happened to me the first ride last year on the new bike... it was March and my tires were brand new, still had the coating on them, tires were also cold, and were a bit wet from riding slowly down my street.... when the light turned green I slowly went around the corner and straightened out and opened it up a bit the back end broke loose and did the same left to right thing and was less than inches from losing it!!! Gotta take it slow in the early parts riding season!! I rode on Monday and the temps were 7-8 degrees, took her easy in the city and then let her stretch her legs on the highway.... Ride safe, don't give up on the cold weather riding!!!

I didn't find it scary surprisingly enough, though - after a while i thought: Damn, what if i fell, i would've actually dropped my dream bike ..... ill take off a bit easier with cold weather.

LESSON TO EVERYONE WHO LIKES TO JANK THE THROTTLE ONCE IN A WHILE!! : Don't do it with this kinda weather, especially after driving for 3 mins. LOL!

Life seems to hand you an eye opener most of the time instead of a hard cold dose of reality. Respect the opportunities to learn you limits. You don't have to get in so deep that you crash.

I'm sure you know but if you still have the stock tires, they may be a little slippery after 4 years. Most people say the stock tires aren't the greatest for grip even when new. I had mine do a quick spin a few times when shifting fast with stoick tires. It was unexpected because the weather was warm and it was not WOT.

prior to the zx i had two other new bikes over the years, reviews and sales people always rave about the high spec tyres. both time i was badly let down by the tyres with sudden loss of traction. ultimately my fault for pushing the tyres too hard. so this time, bike was delivered (interstate) straight to my mechanic and into a pair of loving corsa IIIs.
as far as i'm concerned, OEM tyres are rim protectors and should be trashed asap. i'll never keep oem tyres again.
