Thoughts on red ZX14s
01/28/12 1:18 PM

Dear All - I have been enjoying this forum as I consider buying a ZX14, a bike I've had in mind for several years. Now, what I would really like is an Atomic Silver (with ABS brakes) but I have seen new Persimmon Red 2010s available for $9,500, barely more than what a good used '08 Atomic Silver goes for - and eligible for extended warranties etc. My gut instinct is that red bikes attract alot of attention and that's not particularly what I'm about - so, I'd be interested in your thoughts on that matter! I suppose I am falling prey to the old wives' tale about red sports cars...... Previous rides have been a couple of Triumph Sprint STs, KTM Superduke and KTM Adventure 990. I really like the smoothness of the ZX14's engine but above all, the smoothness of the fuel injection. All of my previous bikes have had absolutely horrible injection. Also, the effortless torque and stability of this bike really do it for me.

Thanks and take care - Wolfhound

I love that color. When I was looking, it was my 2nd choice after the '09 Metallic Orange-and-Black. The Candy Plasma Blue I ended up with was 3rd on the list.

It's a zx14... It's gonna get some attention no matter the color.

If price is close to same, I'd buy new.

Besides... The 2010 red is a nice color.
Check out Bean's bike... Not flashy... Classy!

But Atomic Silver is the fastest.

Dogo The only attraction i've had is lots of people looking at her when im out riding her, especially on sunny bright days she glows really nice, & in OZZ the choice then (2010) was Black or the Red

Bean, your bike is beautiful! It reminds me of the cinnamon candies my Mom gave me when I was a little tyke.

Thanks for all of the replies and input. Bean 07's bike looks absolutely stunning! Assuming that it is the Candy Persimmon Red color available in the USA, then that would definitely work. It's surprising how different it can look in person as well as different pictures so I had best get along and see one in person.

Thanks again and take care - Wolfhound
