Which setup?
03/03/10 9:39 PM

Contemplating which setup i want to go with..

"real street", 65" wheelbase, stock clutch, 340-350 hp.
OR
"pro street", 70" wheelbase, lockup clutch, 425-430 hp, and a slick if i want it.

Can't make up my mind. Reason being is, I think on a competitive standpoint i'd have a better chance in outperforming everyone in real street. On the other hand, our organization has combined pro street/funny bike to make one heads up class. So yes, funny bikes are blazing fast.. BUT according to our stats less then 50% of the passes were successful full passes over the last 5 years. Meaning, while i can't outperform these bikes.. I'd still have a pretty good chance.

What do you guys think? Payout in the prostreet/funnybike is higher, but entry is higher as well.

I'd stick to "real street" for a couple of reasons.

First off is consistency. It will be easier to ride and ET at the lower HP levels. The higher the state of tune, the harder is it (typically) to be consistent and therefor competitive.

Secondly is the $$$ factor. It's got to be less expensive to run in a bracket that's slower.

Just my $.02

Take the class that you can do well in. Aim for the championship and then next year, look for sponsors with you portfolio having a fresh win shows you can do it again with a sticker on the bike always showing 1st Place is why they want that sticker showing they are around to do some business with their winning product. Makes sense you cherry pick?
