Yes.
I bought a black 14R almost 3 weeks ago. I ride through Fallbrook almost every weekday going to the high school pool. If I am not riding it, it is because I have some of the family along. Before that, I was on a 02 R1, an 06 M109R or a 92 DR650.
Motorcycles are perfectly safe, as long as you don't fall off and you don't get hit by anything...
