Hi Everyone - New to the forum after picking up a well cared for, chromed '09 in candy lime w/ a muzzy. Came with a full service manual, owners manual, two keys and a batter tender - all for $7200. I'm quite happy after having State Farm declare my '08 Busa totaled after an attempted theft. :) I had a '01 ZX-11 I purchased new in '02 that I have missed ever since I sold her in '07. Busa may be faster, but can't compare to the comfort of a ZX. I feel whole again. So, not sure this is the spot to ask but less than 24 hrs after picking her up someone at a local mall keyed "FU" into my tank and keyed the other side horizontally by the Ninja lettering (see pics). Anyone have an idea if that is "easily" fixable? If you know of a thread or spot I should be directing this please let me know. Thanks in advance and looking forward to chatting.

I can't believe people that do this. Must be jealous that they can't have one. Bike looks real nice mate and I hope you find someone who can fix your ride good as new!

Get a high speed buffer on that. Probably would come out. Or have a body shop wet sand it. and welcome!!!

Had a scratch in the tank on my ZX-10R that was there at the dealership. I didn't notice it during the walk-around. Cost me $25 to get it buffed out at a body shop. Couldn't tell it ever happened after that. As long as it's not too deep, they can polish it out.

1500 grit wet sand with a sponge, soak the sandpaper to soften the backing so it only kinda rubs the scratch out, not too much as you will go through the clear, wipe it with a terry cloth or lint free towel, let it dry, then use a moderate compound with a buffer and wool pad to bring back the shine, then polish with a good foam pad or by hand since its a small spot with a good polish then light coat of wax. Other than that the bike looks AWESOME and welcome to the spot your gonna love it here, and yuou got a HELL of a deal.

Welcome and grats on the new ride.
Karma will sort out the vandal eventually mate.
A paint pro will be able to buff that out of the tank hopefully if its not through the colour coat.

Get on it....

Quick update. Wet sanding is not an option as its through to the metal/plastic. But, I found ColorRite which has a complete touch up kit for $70 Check it out.

Anyone have experience with this place? I sent them an email with pics to get their feedback. Hoping I will hear from them tomorrow.

Also, went ahead and got the Scorpio i900. Tough to find a place to put the MCM. If anybody has one I'm curious to know where you installed yours.

Thanks again!

ColorRite is good. Their paint is a good match for factory. The reason I asked where you were was I was driving my son back to college and we were in the middle of nowhere in the central valley of California and came to a remote stop sign. Crossing was a ZX14 which looked a lot like yours right down to the chrome panels. Must be a kindred soul.

I hear the candy colors are very difficult to match or rather they do not match. Colorright is the n most frequently recommended source for paint though. May be the candies require very careful application to match since their color effect depends so much on optical miture of color rather than a solid layer of one color. If you are thinking of using a touch up pen , I would guess probbably just a close approximation will be had with that.
