I have limited experience with the PCIII usb such as the one that was on my bike when I bought it. I had a feeling that I may have either accidentally screwed the loaded map or something changed when I did my HID install (a ballast was leaning against the 3 buttons on the front of the PCIII) and I found something interesting today.
I exposed the PCIII and did a key on test. The led bar went up and back down then off. I was curious to see if it was reading the TPS correctly and seeing full throttle, but after it went through it's initial power up sequence, no leds were lit. So, I did it again, key on and a quick touch of the starter button. After I hit the starter button, I was able to see on the led bar that it showed throttle position. The bottom led was lit as the throttle was at idle position. Then I rolled on the throttle to full and watched the led's climb up the bar. I had to do it quick as the unit saw that the engine was not running. When I went to full throttle, the lit led went only 2 up from the top.
Doesn't this mean that the PCIII isn't correctly synced with the TPS? I ask this in this way because when I roll the throttle on from let's say 4K rpm, 3/4 & full feel the same.
I contacted the previous owner and got a clean copy of the map that was loaded into the bike and I'm almost ready to load it in there but I had this question first.
Also, what it the "right" method to sync the PCIII to the TPS? Is it done with the laptop? I have to pick up the usb cable on thursday so it looks like I'll reload the map this weekend.
Thanks in advance.
