Automatically switch off the turn signal
09/29/13 12:18 PM

Hey guys, I am looking for some system/device that would automatically switched off the turn signals(blinkers) after I pass the curve. I had it on my previous bike and I like it

I've been looking for the internet but found nothing so far. Any idea how to make it work on my ZZR 2013?

Thanks for your time.

I think those are inside the turn signal switch itself? You'd have to do some fancy wiring, but if you look at wire in and wire out... Seems simple, right?

There is a device you can splice into the flasher harness that times out the signals, but I don't know where to tell you to look for it.

I had a 1982 Yamaha Virago that had that option, it is hard to believe that all bikes don't that way now. If you figure out how to modify your bike let me know, its a mod that I'd like to do as well.

If you are good with electronics you could make one using a good old trusty 555 timer.

Where is that EE guy that had me build a battery charger putting out 8v for my camera? He'd whip it right up.

Thanks for your answers. I tried to look for "self cancelling turn signal" with google/eBay but I could found nothing usable for ZX-14. Also I do not know if any device from other model can be attached - there are offers on eBay for other kawasaki bikes.

I know I rode HD night rod and it was equipped with such device.

I have sent an email directly to Kawasaki so I will update this thread as soon as I get some response.

Here are three. There are probably more if you look hard enough.

^^^^^ **Note: This unit will not work on bikes that have the left and right turn signal switch built into one unit that you must push to cancel
This sounds more H-D style. Too many wires.

http://www.accessoryinternational.com/signalminder.htm

^^^ Most promising. Here is the dilemma. If this two prong is self contained as it says, you have to return the switch to center. Turn the switch to center once you make the turn you want, it does two things. One, it needs current to count off the time. You moving the switch makes a ground happen so the current is stuck there until you push the button back in. Two, that you keep the ground there, when will the winker box retrigger itself? It needs that self canceling solenoid to reset the winker button. Because if you need to make the same turn, the lever is already slid to that same side. How do you return it?

So at the bottom, meancycles may have some fix? But if there is no kit for the 14's or Kawi type setup, then you may have to salvage your own switch, mod it [to no return], you are stuck with more physical moves than WATT you started out at.

https://www.meancycles.com/store/main/category.cfm?id=2348 < Out also. But, you want this.

HANDLE BAR RETURN SPRINGS:
If above options are hooked-up, these tiny return springs can be inserted in the handlebar switch to force it back to neutral automatically. You dont have use the Push-to-cancel of the handlebar switch.

This one appears to be plug-and-play

SIGNAL MINDER (Most Hondas & Kawasaki, Suzuki models. With 3-pin (|||) plug.)

We run a 2-pin setup. Look at the kawi list. No 14 on that list
