ECU & Break-in
03/14/13 6:17 PM

Howdy Folks,
I bought and have received my 2013 ZX-14r here in Pattaya, Thailand.
I only have 2300 km on it so far and love it.
I'm just about 57, have ridden motorcycles since I was 12 and have been surprised to find that this bike is probably the easiest bike I've driven. The powerband is so linear and predictable it makes this bike a joy to ride.
Now for my question.
I broke in my bike as per the manual. When my bike ticked over from 800 km to 801 km, I was driving across a RR crossing. The bike seemed to change. It seemed to me that the fuel delivery changed. For the better certainly but different. The fuel used at the time came from the same pump that I always fill up at.
I asked the dealer if there was something in the ECU that caused this. He looked at me like I was from outer space.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Welcome!

I have a 2012 with 1600 miles and never had an issue expect on day I was zoned out while getting gas and as I hung up the hose I realized it was 87 not 93 octane. THAT tank caused me some issues. Bike was knocking something awful. Once I ran it out... gently and refilled I was back to "getting thrown in jail" performance. :)

Hey, Thai Stick... Say they program a 1 and an 0 to time so many times and then 1 to 0 to 1 goes like 1 to 0 to 0 on a scheduled time. Something like that. I'll see if that makes a similar move in the clocking there of in the ECU. I think I've heard of this for cars doing a copy there of.

ASS far as tracks? A certain poster needs to drop trousers, drop the 100% cotton briefs and then look down.
