A few ?'s
03/20/12 4:10 PM

Hello to all, hope all is going well with you and every1 is enjoying the road?

I have a few ?'s that have dawned upon me. For regular street riding, would you recommend the the Bonneville pro? I know its purpose but is anyone running it and can you tell a difference with a custom tune to your pc?\
Also does anyone know where the best place to get oem plastics? Besides going to the dealer. Its an arm and leg to get them? I need the blue fairings. I'm hearing 2 different stories as to which color blue kawi used. Candy Plasma blue, or just plasma?
Can anyone give info on a pair of good motorcycle boots. I wear a 16 in shoes. What is a good brand, and where can I find them?
If anyone has any info please chim in.
Thanks ahead of time

I have a Bonneville bought used from Compton from over at bikeland.

I have not yet installed it but I am fairly familiar with how it goes in the bike.

First-- the Bonneville is ONLY a speedo correction/top speed derestriction device. If you have one installed on the bike it will have no impact on a custom tune whatsoever. Only way I see a derestricter affecting a tune is that the bike will be able to pass 186 mph. I guess if your tuner wants to run his dyno at that speed and tune for top speed performance, that can be done where nonderestricted bikes could only be tuned for 0-186mph.

I currently have a SpeedoHealer V4 on the 14. It also can be set to correct the speedo. If the the SH is set to a very low % such as -50%, the speedo cannot ever hit top speed(i.e., if your speedo reads 100, you are actually moving at 200). With the speedo reading cut to where the speedo cannot do 186 mph, the top speed limiter is never tripped and you just go as fast as the engine will carry you.

I bought the Bonneville Pro after I owned the SHv4. The reason, the Bonneville derestricts without the need to cut the speedo setting way down. You can ride as fast as the bike will go and the speedo will go all the way around. Also, had some water related problems with the SHv4. Caused some freaky shorting while I was on the bike. The Bonneville is prolly vuknerable to the same thing as the connectors that tie in at the speed sensor wire are identical between the Bonneville and the SHv4....like they were actuallly made by the same company.

Can anyone give info on a pair of good motorcycle boots. I wear a 16 in shoes.

The Bonneville requires that you cut 1 wire at the ECU and splice in. The Speedohealer requires no cutting. Also, the Bonneville is just for the 14. SpedoHealer can be used on different bikes if the proper loom is purchased which cost ~$30. I will switch the SHv4 to my busa after I install the Bonneville to the 14.

16? that's boats, not boots.
