2012 or 2015 ?
03/10/15 1:26 PM

I'm choosing between a 2012 with 1200 mile on it or a new 2015 bike.

The '12 is special edition green (very nice) and comes with 30 days from the dealer

The '15 bikes are 3,000 more but no miles at all plus warranty for the full year.

My question is, are there any major upgrades from 12-15? If it's only cosmetic, I really like the green bike and will be saving a few grand, even though it was broken in by an unknown person.

Any comments welcome!

G'day Apex,
Yeah, I think the limited edition green with subtle decals and silver rims would be my favorite Gen 2 color configuration.
I also just did some looking at the differences from 2012 onwards and couldn't find a lot!
But the experienced boys here will definitely know...
Good luck with your choice.
Can't really lose either way...

I thought the changes were only colors.... Everything else is unchanged as I understand it

I would go with the 2015 simply because it has ABS. I wish my 2012 had it.

Good point. ABS is nice on such a big fast heavy bike. That motivates me to be very particular when I look at the '12 green bike. If it's not perfect in every way, I'll lean toward the extra 3K and shop for the '15.

The three '15 models are local in town where he discounts heavily. I'm stopping in there today to take a look at the colors. It just has to hit me sometimes (colorwise).

The '12 is at another dealer, is on sale now for 10,000 and has 1100 miles on it. That green is real nice too

10K for a 3yo scooter w/ 1100 miles on the clock?!

F that, bud. I paid 12.5K for a brand new 2012 scooter in Berkeley Springs, WV. Not a holdover... brand new.

Ridersville Cycle.

No shit, Hagrid. I live IN Berkeley Springs, I've known Harold for over 20 years and really want to buy from him but the colors of all the 2015s just suck in my opinion.

The SE is too fing "red" all over.....the black is ok but I've got a black Daytona and I'm kinda sick of black. The other choice is a flat black which sucks.

Harold said he could get me a 2014 in Orange/Black or Green/Black and I don't care for those either. I'm damn stuck on that metallic green 2012......I'm trying to talk myself into that special edition red....after all I already have a red corvette and a red Ducati all the same shit ass red bright damn color.....I love all those....maybe I'm just a red kind of guy?

Amazing all this talk of no ABS.
Every 2012 ZX-14R and onwards brought into Australia has ABS!
You can't get a Gen2 here without it...

Only the 2012 SE had ABS in the states.

There are a couple ways to look at your options.

1. Get the new bike, a little less worries (maybe) about how it was taken care of
2. Get the 2012 and dump the extra $3k in upgrades ;)

If you're going to mod your bike and void the warranty any way... LOL

The 2012 SE did not have abs.I know...I had one.Flames...that was it.I tried the 2012 ECU on my 2013 ABS model. The ABS did not work with that ECU.

Tell Harold I said hello and I'm trying to bird dog for him. Chances are, years from now, I'll buy my next scooter from him.

Try Cycletrader.com to find bikes in your area. Colors and prices vary. I saved quite a bit over buying from the local Indy dealers.
